That seems to be the new mantra of the anti-mask, anti-lockdown movement now..they're pushing statistics that most of the people who are dying were "old anyway" and that those 70 or over are the ones most affected and believe lockdowns are just disrupting freedom and the economy....are you one of those people?.

I feel bad for conscientious people that somehow still catch it. The dumb people crying "hoax" or being selfish and putting others at risk? I give zero fucks what happens to any of them. If it were up to me the police would be rounding them up and removing the rest of that freedom they're crying so much about.

The saddest case of an old person dying from co-vid was when the old couple that accidentally invited that random teen to thanksgiving dinner a couple year back who have been seeing each other for a few years now. But the Grandfather died from covid :(

The argument isn't so much "who cares? It's just old people dying," as it is a matter of "Some groups are higher risk and those groups need an abundance of caution, but other groups are at a much lower risk and therefore should be allowed to continue society because otherwise our nation is going to wind up absolutely, irreversibly fucked when the system as a whole collapses because nobody is doing what needs to be done." There needs more of a balance here instead of "shut it down!" because not only does it take a long time to get shit running again, but you're doing a lot of fucking harm by closing everything down and it has a compounding effect. More and more people are going to be impacted by the lockdowns as time goes on.

This. The shut-down is not letting up in my area at all because we have a fucking cult in town that is deliberately violating all guidelines on purpose.

My job is literally to prevent the spread of COVID-19 into a vulnerable community by doing basic screening of people for entry into the area. So no, I'm not one of those people.

The first statement is true. The second is not. 2 people wearing masks and properly distancing reduce the rate of transmission between them by over 90%, and you can take it near to 100% if you wear a shield for your eyes, too. :-/

It spreads through droplet contamination, so as long as you don't expose yourself to people's breath through your eyes/mouth/nose and keep your hands clean and others do the same, the disease can't spread. We only had to shut down because people wouldn't step the fuck up at the start and beat it before it began. The ONLY reason this has persisted for so long is because people are choosing not to participate in stopping the spread of the contagion.

My mom is 73 and shes one of the only three members of our family left. I usually feel like running over people in this area who dont wear masks with my pickup.
