D:, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Paula Red, Northern Spy, Gala
F: McIntosh, Rome, Cortland

Some of these I haven't had in a minute, especially some of the branded apples. My judgement may be slightly clouded.

At least Golden Delicious are actually juicy. They do not need to be on the Red Delicious tier.

Honeycrisp are an annoying texture. I like softer apples like Jonagold and Johnathan. They're also objectively not as sweet as something like Kiku or Fuji, both of which taste way better. JUST FACTS.
Plus you don't need to pay an arm and a leg for other apples like you do monstrosity 23-a-case-size Honeycrisps. Even smaller Honeycrisps are usually a bigger size than other apples, without even factoring in their higher price per pound.

Maybe you're right that Red Delicious should go down to F. But even then I'd MUCH rather eat a Red Delicious than a Rome or a McIntosh. I'm convinced only really old people and people who bake a ton ever buy McIntosh.
