Batman handing Joker to Gotham PD is like trusting your drug-addict cousin with your credit card. You know exactly whats going to happen and you have no one to blame but yourself.

as for other heroes? Superman tends to do a decent job, and doesnt deal with as many psychopathic serial killers whose death would be a net-positive to society. Maybe Lex Luthor would be better off dead, but people like him (for some stupid reason) usually have things set up so that the public is on their side and that killing them will somehow be seen as a terrible, scandalous crime.

Now, why Superman doesnt just hop over to Gotham, which is like a cozy afternoon drive from Metropolis, and clean up Batmans mess in five minutes? THATs pretty damn stupid. Joker should have one foot outside his cell before both his legs are broken and hes back inside.

I dont support the death penalty irl because our Justice system has proven time and again it cant be trusted not to lock up and kill innocent people. In practice, there are a few human trashbags who Id be happy to see get the needle, but for the sake of any innocent people, Im fine with the most vile of society just rotting in a cell for the rest of their days.

Superhero fiction usually isnt bogged down by the nuance and complexity of real life. In almost every Joker story, the heroes are in at least 12 situations where they would be wholly justified in killing him. These situations almost never exist in real life.

But hey, if I walked in on a guy in clown makeup ready to beat a pre-teen to death with a crowbar, or kidnapped the police commissioner after shooting his daughter in her own apartment, and I had Batmans physical conditioning, the Joker would be in pieces on the ground and not a jury in the world would convict me.

I was just going over Injustice. In that book/movie. And while not in the proper time line. It shows the issues with Bats. He cares more about villains then he does innocent people. He let's Harely on his team she she help to blow up a city, when her actions lead to the death of nightwing.

There was a comic where batman and supes traded cities for a day. Iirc it was like a vacation to Batman and super man while stooping all the criminals in record time was horrified with what batman had to deal with on a regular basis.

But yeah batman typically would be mad I think in this comic it was a bet or an agreement.

But yet he never has. Why? Either batman has an elaborate trap or he preys on the fact Superman will go easy on him. Even in injustice when they are bitter enemies supermans fondness of Bruce has allowed Bruce to survive. Superman can do a lot of things but his morals hold him back.

I feel a line in the justice league show showed that. When he fought the darkseid braniac fusion he mentioned feeling like he lived in a world made of cardboard so facing such a foe he was happy for once he didnt have to hold back.

But even when supes has had no fondness towards Bruce hes been shown to fall victim to the bats traps. Red son superman in particular who as far as im aware is every bit as strong and fast.

I don't think you need to support the death penalty to support the topic premise

The joker isn't comparable to any normal criminal in the sense that he's seemingly always able to break out of prison. In that situation extreme measures might become more justifiable

Ive always disagreed with the whole world blind sentiment. One that assumes everyone will attack someone One day and two of retaliation was more common and accepted more would carefully consider potential consequences before doing such a thing
