I live in Mississippi and work retail.

Id say about 70% of people arent wearing masks. Im having people casually mention that their relatives have COVID or have died of it while not wearing a mask or socially distancing. Its a college town where the local community college has had a ton of covid outbreaks but didnt shut down or cancel HS football season.

We have a mandatory mask mandate for public places but authorities refuse to enforce it. Half of them dont wear masks.

Its honestly all the young people who refuse to wear masks that get me. Its really concerning that even the youth around here dont have much of a clue.

So yeah Id give my local area a big fat F- if I was grading it.

Some prick in Wal-Mart last week walked into the store sucking a coffee filter to his fat face in lieu of a mask. He only did this when around employees, too. He was walking around the store and very confidently invading people's space by reaching over them to grab stuff off the shelves. He was eventually asked to leave and made a big show of it after he got too close to a woman who was having none of his shit.

Next door in Alabama isn't much better. I'd say that I see 95% of people wearing masks when they're out and about, but people on local social media are extremely vocal about how "covid is a hoax" and "we can't live in fear." I've come close to throwing (metaphorical) hands with some of my relatives because they are playing way too loose with potential exposure around my 80+ years old grandmother. Like, trying to have her around someone with a fresh positive diagnosis.
