Whats the most amount of money you would pay for a pack?

like anything above that and you wouldn't buy it.

it was 3.50 when I started smoking back in 2004.

I've stopped for some time now, but the fact that its more than doubled is crazy

Quitting is something that is usually on the back of the mind for most smokers. Justifications are pretty standard. Price, age, children, etc. Whether or not it happens is another thing. I've never made it more than two weeks before caving. The thing is that first cigarette is just guilt laden and unsatisfying.

I'm rambling.

It's about $5.50 for a pack of Camels and about $8.00 for a pack of the non filtered kind, same with Lucky Strike.

Was around $1.50 a pack when I started in 1990.

I don't know what my cut off is to be honest. It costs like 8 or 9 bucks a pack now where I live, which is absurd since that's as much as American Spirits used to cost back when everything else was still 5 bucks.

I only smoke two or three packs a week, so it's still hitting my wallet but I can't imagine someone going through a pack a day at that rate.

You guys need to come suffer up north and easy with us lol

15 dollar a pack was the real reality, and I was buying two packs a day

like fuck that

if you wanna smoke and I mean if you really wanna enjoy your smoking - switch to vaping, not only is it monumentally cheaper but the hit

you like literally level up life by switching over and finding out the right vape set man

Im a victim of vice man - getting high is nice.. but I am in love with smoking dirty air and having plumes of smoke swirl around

I dont even put nicotine in my vape anymore and I find using a weed pen helps me not plow through actual combustible herb.. just a good hit of plume and I can settle with that

I was more of a fan of smoking than anything else, getting drunk was just a means to an end to make my smoking experience more enjoyable

smoking weed was a situation of well I might as well get high while smoking

It also helps that my area is a major tobacco producer to keep local prices cheap.

RJ Reynolds, Lorillard, and Liggett is just down the road.

They should be free. A lot of people in poverty need them, and making them so expensive just makes the problem worse.

They run about $4.50 to $4.75 a pack here.

The store I buy from one can save about $1.50 if you buy two packs.

Like I mean not $10 to $15 a pack.

Hell the Troopas here are busy on 95 here in NC and VA trying to catch people hauling smokes from here to sale up north.

Its kinda fucked up they tax the shit out of addicts who suffer from a disease.

Shouldnt they be helping people quit instead of capitalizing on their addictions?

Yep, Missouri is cheap from my understanding. Living in st louis, i think there's a thing where people will take cigarettes over to Illinois to sell for profit.

Let's look at the cheatsheet again: https://balancingeverything.com/cigarette-prices-by-state/

Smuggling to Illinois is likely pretty sweet. Being the state next door means it's viable to run "personal use" amounts at a time, while the average price in Illinois being 180% vs. the average price in Missouri provides a nice margin to play with.
Sell a pack for $7, undercut the local market by $1.79, still make $2.09 in gross profit.

When I smoked and lived near Atlanta, I was barely paying $4 a pack for Marlboros. I wouldn't go much higher than that. It's so much cheaper getting a rolling machine and bagged tobacco.

That is nice, and I never realized that Missouri was the cheapest State for cigarettes. Most tax increases on the ballot fail here, so it makes sense.
