I'm guessing it's pretty much a wash between these 2 but I'm looking to pick up a new laptop today and these are both around the same price ($650) in open box near me.

I'd use them for basically web browsing, ebay things and potentially light gaming (FFXIV is basically the only PC game I play).

It seems the main difference between the two is:

Dell G5 vs ASUS ROG Zephyrus
i7 9th gen vs AMD Ryzen 7 3750
256GB SSD + 1TB HDD vs 512GB SSD
60hz screen vs 120hz screen
6.1lbs vs 4.6lbs

I already purchased the Dell for collection (but can easily cancel) before seeing the ASUS in a closer Best Buy to me (by like 20 mins so not a big deal). At a glance it seems like the ASUS is better? It's slightly worse performance but is lighter and with a better screen and arguably better storage (I'm unlikely to use more than 512GB)

I'm not sure which is the better brand nowadays between Dell and ASUS, I was previously using an MSI where the screen crapped out after 4 years so I figured it would be better to just buy a new laptop rather than replace a screen on a 4 year old laptop

Pretty much this. The Dell has a better CPU and more storage but the ASUS has the better screen and it's lighter. Really comes down to your general behaviours. Like, if you have an external monitor you plug into and your laptop just sits on a desk, I'd go for the Dell. But if the laptop screen is your main screen and you move it around a lot, probably the ASUS.

Yeah, that's kinda what I was thinking. The screen on the Asus doesn't have great reviews but neither does the Dell.

My hand might be forced anyway. I don't think the store that has the Dell actually has it.

Looks like the answer may be neither. Bought them both in case there was problems. So far neither of them is ready for pick up despite it saying ready in an hour.

Best Buy online stock is the worst

Have you tried calling the store to see if they have any in stock?

My bracket looked like random picks compared to his.

I actually went into one of them as I was picking up my Pulse PS5 headset anyway and the guy I spoke to was basically zero help.

When I tried calling them earlier in the day I couldn't speak to an actual person. Tried multiple times
