Current Events > Just beat Halo 4, AMA (also major spoilers for the game)

Story: Didn't actually expect to finish it today lol, thought I would have a couple more missions to go. It was fun, left me with a lot more questions than answers, wondering if I need to play the Spartan Ops to fully understand everything.

Guess my biggest point of confusion is what humans were running from, and I didn't think humans and Forerunners co-existed but that's also because the plot seems really reminiscent of Mass Effect to me or precursor civilizations that existed eons before humanity. The way they explained it in the game I got the idea that the Forerunners digitized themselves to stop the Flood from spreading, but the Librarian also planted "seeds of life" around the universe so that life *could* continue once the Flood died out, and humanity came from those seeds. But apparently not. Or something.

End felt like it cut off one or two lines of dialogue before it should have >_>

Gameplay: Definitely felt ammunition scarcity here, everything seemed to deplete a lot faster. I did like the new forerunner weapons a lot, especially the Suppressor. The sniper rifle was cool but the fact that it fired 3 shots at once seemed unnecessary. First few times I used it I was wondering why I was running out of ammo so fast when it had over 100 rounds in stock.

Normally am not too crazy about mecha suits but the segments here were fun. Definitely found that on one of the mecha suit missions the best strategy was just standing still though lol. The Mammoth level was badass, reminded me of the GDI Mammoth in C&C. Also liked finally being able to fly the Pelican. Just wish you got to have more "open world" flight time with it instead of one segment where you're just flying to a platform and one segment where you're just racing straight down a track.

Soundtrack: Probably the most forgettable one yet, not that it was bad, just didn't sound as exotic as the previous ones. Like, Halo 2's soundtrack was goofy as shit but it was fun and memorable and the songs did fit the theme of the levels.

Oh speaking of which, how the fuck did Master Chief survive lmfao everything was torn to shreds and he's just floating there like what.

As a side note, it drives me nuts hearing everyone say "Chief, Chief, Chief", and people saluting you and shit. Alright at the very end it made sense, you saved the whole planet. But just normal ass people, saluting you... when you get on the ground for a combat mission? Lmfao no.

God I remember thinking the Didact was such a boring antagonist. And the Forerunner enemies were pretty annoying, made me hate them even more than the Flood. At least the Flood didn't have BS teleportation abilities.

Chief is the most famous of all Spartans, everyone knows him and his team; that's the whole reason he was chosen by Cortana to be her protector. Cortana (as stated by the game) is also the only AI based off a human mind and not completely fabricated.

As for the Didact; how sure are you the implosion grenade Chief shoved into his chest/aftermath of exactly that isnt what killed him? @Jabodie

The Didact was more like a Dork-dact lol. Honestly didn't really understand his shtick, he was pissed off all the other forerunners wanted to digitize themselves and he didn't want to so they just imprisoned him? They also seem pretty stupid, like they could have killed the Flood but just kept samples of it lying around. Wtf.

Idk pkmnlord, the Flood was a bunch of BS. After the first game I found myself just running through any level with Flood in it and ignoring them as much as possible, they were just annoying pains in the ass. I didn't get teleported on too frequently with the forerunner guys, just once or twice. Other than that just used the auto sentry and it killed everything and the Suppressor finished everyone else off.

That's what happens when you play on Normal though >_>

Ah yeah, my first playthrough was on Heroic but I eventually cheesed through Legendary with a friend, idk if I ever went back and did it solo Legendary too.

Forerunners are miserably fucking annoying on Heroic/Legendary (and I also grew to hate them from some of the spartan ops missions as well)

Yup check out the wiki. He's still technically alive in digital form iirc in case they want to use him later. He was composed I think.

I feel like Heroic is enough of a challenge for someone who might get bored steamrolling through any of the lower difficulties.

Cortana formed a hardlight box for him to chill out in while everything around him got wrecked

And 5's story is dumb as fuck but the gameplay is fun enough to warrant a playthrough

And one of the best new characters gets introduced near the end
