Well, he gave us a 24 point curve, and generally, most of us did well enough in the rest of the stuff to get decent grades. I think I will end up with an A-.

Now, here's my short commentary on colleges that boast their GPA's, is this literally not grade inflation to make us look better than we actually are? As anyone in college knows, this wouldn't be the only class that benefitted students through massive curves.

I mean, this is how it works. The accountants in the world now got the same benefit. Sorry to worry you, although I should say a lot of what you probably think accountants do may be a little off due to how Hollywood portrays them.

I never had the benfeit of a "curve" in any of my classes and if you got an average of 43/100 on the final but can still get an A- that is deeply troubling to me, as it should be for anyone with an accountant. Also, I don't see accountants too often in movies (is there a stereotypical theatrical view of accountants other than nerdy OCD dudes?)

As an accountant/bookkeeper myself, as long as you can reconcile a bank account and post simple transactions and adjusting entries, this exam score is likely irrelevant.

I basically used none of my accounting knowledge from school as an auditor. As long as you understand the basic concept of debits and credits and know what financial statements are you were fine as everything else was on the job training.

What do you want to do after graduating?

The curve is to account for the failure of the test to accurately represent what you learned, presumably

theoretically its also possibly that the teacher did a poor job teaching, but assuming most students did assigned reading as needed thats less of a factor

What do you want to do after graduating?
I actually have a job lined up with PwC after I graduate as an auditor! Both exciting and scary since I know the Big Four will work you to the bone.
