My boss has missed work all week. She got her test results back today and she is positive.

My other boss's sister was hospitalized yesterday with it. This boss took in her niece who possibly has it, so she's quarantining again.

1 coworker has a 6 month old, so she's not coming back till everyone here is clear. Another 2 similarly live with a newborn, so they're not coming back.

The jerk coworker who used to mess up my schedule came in last night coughing on everything. But apparently he's allowed to keep working? He's off for 2 days then he comes back... but most likely him and his wife will skip out too.

Not quite. Most of the ones that are out don't run the front desk. But that does just leave a handful of us. We don't have much room for anyone else to miss, which has me worried for a couple of reasons. First, that pair of troublesome coworkers, if one leaves so does the other. Secondly... My throat has been slightly irritated today, so I'm worried about that too. I'm going to talk to my only remaining manager about what I should do.

Half of mine did too.

One of them is basically suffocating all the time now because her lungs are damaged. Oh yeah, their taste is gone. One of them can't tell black coffee from water.

They never wore their masks. They wore them around their chin. They all worked a shift together most days, and bam, no more night crew for two weeks.

How do you get everyone infected when you don't even have to talk to customers! It doesn't count if you're pro-science in retrospect! You can't just call things scientists are saying right now a scam! You don't get to call BS on scientific consensus, you're an uneducated worker! You wouldn't even know where to start reading a research paper, let alone criticize it!

I was also of the belief that they didn't work, then the science community proved me wrong, and instead of being an idiot, I respected the research. Science didn't get man on the moon by being riddled with scams!

I mean, they are gonna have to shut down if many more staff get it and who wants to stay at a hotel where everyone has covid? Like yeah it'd suck big time but all your options suck once half your staff gets infected.

I guess. We have a NHS track and trace app and IF notified on it that you've come into contact with someone with COVID then that's 10 days isolation for you. It's not law but highly recommended. My bros housemate got notified and because my bro lives with him they both had to isolate for 10 days. Apparently two people at his work got it. My bro and hos housemate didn't but it was just to be safe.

Ok, getting tested. The regular clinic that does testing is closed this weekend. The health department has temporarily halted testing because the national guard is coming in a week to do mass testing. Boss said I may have to get tested then.

The hotel won't be able to operate if they lose more people to illness anyway.
And seriously, how many people are traveling right now? Surely the other hotels in the area could absorb the customers, otherwise how else do people get places to stay in years where there is no pandemic?

Honestly, a lot of places aren't at the point where they're able to administer tests the day they're requested. American health care is still trash, but that problem is more likely with the incredible demand than anything else.

Plus they're preparing for a mass testing program next week. I guess most regular places are preparing for that and temporarily stopped testing for now. Just poor timing I think.

Yeah. Which is probably why they're hoping not to lose anymore. And I think a good number of people might be traveling even with the pandemic. It's Christmas, after all. There are plenty that would still like to see family. Not to mention the amount of people who don't believe in it. And hotels usually do get crowded and full around this time of year. At least, they do around here (and my home town). Plus, I believe the hotel Koga works at is actually two. Meaning they would have to close down two hotels...

My bros GF had one done and it took 24 hours. Not sure if that's the standard. She didn't get COVID and it was just a cough thankfully. She's a teacher so had to be sure. Goodnight Koga!

Depends on the test. They have the ones that come back immediately, and the one that takes day. I think the one that takes day is standard for most people, with the immediate being for certain cases, AFAIK...

Your body can do strange stuff to you when you're put under certain pressures, often related to whatever it is that is particularly stressing you. Granted, that isn't a reason to write off symptoms as just being stress, but it's a possibility you shouldn't fully discount if you're in a particularly stressful situation and then suddenly feel very ill.

I haven't got my results back yet. Will call them again in the morning... but I took some pepto bismol just now and I didn't taste it. Sprayed some disinfectant spray, didn't smell it... Tried some air freshener, and couldn't smell that either.

So, I think I know the answer.

Thanks, I live with family. We're not sure which of us got sick first, but we're all gonna have to quarantine.

Also, test results came back positive.

...and dad is freaking out over having to stay quarantined. Demanding we still send my cousin to work and have him go visit his dad. Also not understanding that he can't just go ride through town and visit with his friends like he does every day.

Nope. I work the front desk at a pair of sister hotels.

Mom works at a local pizza shop, and my cousin stocks at walmart. Dad is retired.
