Didn't notice the guy trying to open the door earlier. I had just assumed they were being annoying assholes, but that takes it to another level. I don't know if that justifies flooring it instantly, but it moves it into a grayer area for sure.

my point is that the car is not a bullet that can't be seen once the pedal goes down, not that it isn't dangerous going slower. i don't fault the people who were down further, just addressing another stupid exaggeration that goes nowhere

I work and I drive to get there. There are too many bad drivers for me to ever give one the benefit of the doubt. They have no regard for other cars or pedestrians. They need to get somewhere and goddamnit NOTHING will alter their path!

Yeah. Like I've been saying, it depends on who instigated it. If the people in the car somehow did something to instigate it, yelling slurs/threats/other kinds of fighting words or whatever, then they deserve full blame and no self defense considerations. If they just had the unfortunate bad luck to drive into a group of people looking to fuck shit up and take out their anger on a White person, the group deserves the blame.

Protesting is legal. Driving is legal. Driving cars near groups of people gets iffy and can make people do stupid things. Simplest solution is to keep the two separated.

And the best way to keep them separated is for protestors to GET OUT OF THE FUCKING ROAD.

Websites seem to vary, but generally you can only do so if you don't block car/pedestrian traffic, or otherwise obtain a permit to block the street with police escort if deemed too massive to safely congregate on the sidewalk. That's fair, I shouldn't make the assumption that this was a legal protest with permits, I was just more responding to the general implication that protesting in streets is inherently wrong.

Keep it out of the street. When you start accosting vehicles and restraining people in their vehicles like that, human nature dictates that its going to go poorly.

Call me a victim blamer all you want, I just dont want people losing their lives like this. The driver is a billion percent in the wrong, but just like telling your daughter not to walk down Rape Avenue at 3am, these things are going to happen regardless of how you punish the perpetrator, and there are simple steps you can take to be safe.

She is obviously guilty and has done more than enough to earn the ire of those people.
