I flat out got a house in an auction in Michigan for 10k. Got the roof fixed through a program. 8 years ago and I'm still here living in a 3 bedroom by myself.

I know there's tons of cheap houses in Michigan, but aren't most of those sitting stripped out in a blighted Detroit neighborhood? Nope. Mine was livable after cleaning surface areas and in a quiet area. Had leaks, but the roof is fixed now. Shit, my water heater and furnace are still holding up 8 years later. Never replaced them. Like I said, right place right time. I never imagined I'd be on my own in my 20s in a 3 bedroom house. But now I'm 31 and maintaining. Never had to deal with people living above or below me in my life. Well, I guessI did when my sister moves in upstairs for a year. I see why it drives people crazy. But I could of kicked her out any time I wanted. I eventually did >_>. Kind of. Gave her an ultimatum.
