Is ending up in a Russian prison as happy of an ending as he couldve hoped for with all the enemies made over the years?

He pretty much cant ever go back to the United States so he couldnt really settle down with Kim and his grandkids.

Or should he have simply died saving the world somehow?

The last one in my mind - I think even he knows he has done so many grey things that he won't get the fairytale with Kim and his granddaughter... but at the same doesn't deserve Russian prison, especially since he already went through Chinese prison

At least to me it seemed like the Russians werent planning on torturing him. They actually seemed to treat him with a level of respect and dignity and it was more of a You did the crime, youre doing the time. situation.

So hopefully hes in a more regular prison and possibly has a level of esteem/meaning in his day-to-day life.

I caught that too...part of me had always held out hope that he found a way to trust the system again (despite Red Foreman being killed in front of him), but after the last season ended (saving Chloe) it seemed fated that he would always be on the outside

The end of S8 was a good enough ending for him IIRC like he was an outlaw but he was free

Was that the next to last one with him? The one where he asked to see the Imam because he thought he was going to die?

The one he got. Alone and likely to be killed. That or actually killed on screen. A genuine happy ending wouldn't fit

Yeah the original series finale wasnt bad even though it felt like a massive cliffhanger at the time.

Though I just expect that 1 of 2 things wouldve happened eventually;

1. Those pursuing him would never stop and would eventually find him somehow so hed have to just be on the run forever which is no way to live.

2. Being Jack Bauer, if he caught wind of something that would put his friends/family in danger, he simply wouldnt be able to stay away, which is exactly what happened in season 9.

So as much as Jack being free and possibly starting over somewhere would be the real best happy ending he could get, I just think it had a shelf life.
