IIRC there's a few different movies and series. What's worth watching and what should I watch first?

Stargate (1994 film)
Stargate: SG-1 (Seasons 1-7)
Stargate: SG-1 Season 8 and Stargate: Atlantis Season 1
Stargate: SG-1 Season 9 and Stargate: Atlantis Season 2
Stargate: SG-1 Season 10 and Stargate: Atlantis Season 3
Stargate: The Ark of Truth.
Stargate: Atlantis Season 4
Stargate: Continuum.
Stargate: Atlantis Season 5

Origins and Universe are optional in my opinion. If you choose to watch them, watch them after everything else.

Id say either start with the very first movie from the 90s or just jump straight to SG1. If I remember correctly SG1 acts as a sorta sequel/reboot of the series. I cant remember if SG1 acts as if the movie happened or not, but its also kinda retconned.

the rest of the movies follow up on SG1. So Im pretty sure they would be watched after SG1.

Stargate Atlantis takes place somewhere during SG1 and is very much its own thing. Except for maybe a few spoilers for the over arching plots to SG1 there isnt really any overlap.

Stargate Universe, probably the more controversial series, takes place after the events of SG1/Atlantis from what I remember. Though except for a couple character spoilers for SG1, its also only loosely connected to the other series. This one also has a very different tone and atmosphere. Where as SG1 can be cheesy and campy, SGU is darker and grittier.

Some will say skip this one entirely, but I think its worth checking out.

This is the right order

SGU plays a lot better as a streaming show. When it's not drug out week to week, then it's decent enough. But man, that week wait in between shows made SGU seem as dull as dishwater, especially the first episodes. It was like, "god damn, 3 weeks for a situation that O'Neil would have wrapped up by the first commercial break."

Excellent, thanks for the info everyone! Watching the '94 movie now. Stargate is the one major sci-fi franchise I've not gotten into, and it's about time I fix that.

It does follow from it and acts like it happened but yeah it retcons some things. I've never seen the movie, it's not really needed. The first episode covers everything.

The movie is important to fully understand some episodes, characters, locations, etc., from the earlier seasons of SG-1. It's not entirely necessary, but it's just one movie that's pretty good in its own right, so you might as well watch it.

SG-1 is my favorite TV series of all time, and Atlantis is also great. SGU is...fine, but it ends on a huge cliffhanger.

I haven't seen a ton of Stargate, but my ex was OBSESSED, so I saw a good amount of SG-1 since that was her favorite series. It also seems to be the consensus favorite.
