My cat sorta likes going for walks. But not like on a leash.
We go out at night, and I carry him to like a little side road, and we chill, and then he just walks back on his own.

But some cats will go out. You just basically have to raise them that way from kittenhood.

Maine Coons like being walked supposedly. I've had a few friends that walk their's and they're sick cats. If I ever got a cat it'd be one of those but I'm allergic :(

siamese are insanely needy tho, a big part of the reason i dont want a dog. i want something i can leave alone for like 4 days

While I believe that the adoption of an animal should not be looked at as a be all end all situation, because if you adopt a pet and it isn't working it is much better for both the pet and owners to be happy and part ways asap if you know it isn't going to work. The way you worded it is obviously an attempt to be inflammatory.

no, no it isnt. i obviously meant rehome. i originally thought "sell" which is the word i use for clothes but i thought it would objectify a living being too much so i changed it to "get rid of" which is my second phrase i use to describe removing clothes i dont want

The fact you obviously lack the capacity to care for another living being as anything other an an accessory?

Lemme explain: My roomate really wants a Dogo Canario because they're awesome dogs; but he is self aware enough to know he wouldnt be able to give it the love and attention it would need. Rather than make it suffer so he can have his dream pet, he abstains from even considering the idea. You are the opposite; you want to entertain the idea of being a pet owner with no comprehension of what that means; it's a commitment and not one to be taken lightly.

My roommate live vicariously through me because I have a malinois-pit breed and he gets all the best parts without the responsibility; it works amazing for him.

I'm 99% your trolling and I despise you for you making light of something so serious, but in the case you're not I will continue to explain why you should NEVER OWN A PET.

Here's where you're wrong...I actually would prefer a dog, but I realize my lifestyle and personality isn't conducive to one. Which is why I'm looking at cats who are a much better match

What else do you want me to correct you about next?

You missed the point entirely; dog/cat/pig doesnt matter the animal; you're more concerned about YOU than the other living being and think just "getting rid of it" is acceptable. It depends on you and will form a bond. When you adopt an animal it's the equivalent of adopting a child; you dont just "get rid of it" because it's no working for you. If you have ANY doubts, just dont do it.

People adopt kids and give them back literally all the time. I never said I wouldn't try hard to make it work, but as an engineer I gotta plan for every scenario

I don't see what TC said about retuning the pet as being so outlandish, 100% of new pet owners never return their pets just in case they changed their mind and realized they were in over their heads? Its not unheard off, humans can make mistakes with big decisions, at least returning the pet would be better for the pet than keeping one thats not wanted.
