Wtf.

We already had Tier 1, which was close to business as usual, Tier 2, which was reasonably strict, and Tier 3, which shuts down almost everything, but now we also have Tier 4. What is this bullshit? The new tier is essentially everything but food retailers shutting down, and people stuck in their houses. I like the way Tier 4 is basically a lockdown, but named Tier 4 so they don't have to call it a lockdown. And, a lot of the country has been placed in the highest tier, just before Christmas, with no advance warning. I'm not one of those people that thinks governments have taken advantage of the virus to take away civil liberties, and I'm not an antimasker or anything, but this is really bad.

Thoughts? Do you live in the UK?

If it stops the spread of the virus, then I'm all for it. The way things were going, it was obvious that things were going to get out of control, especially with the stupid "it's fine to mix households but only over Christmas". Like the virus had agreed not to infect anyone during that time.

To be fair, earlier this week I walked to the next town over. That's something.

im ur neighbour country, i do personally not care for christmas but this was coming from miles away so for them to not cancel until a week before the holidays, without warning, is just plain awful. dont think people running to the stores dawn of the final day was good for the situation either

safety first always, there are far worse things in the world and again this does not affect me personally, but for others i feel like this move was handled poorly

I do and it means I have a much less stressful Christmas to look forward to.

Yes, I live in the UK and frankly, I don't give a shit that Christmas "might be spoilt" by tighter regulations at this time. To relax them just because it's Christmas would be as stupid as relaxing the blackout restrictions in London at Christmas 1940.

we don't have tiers where i live. We have "THIS IS JUST FINE, WEAR A MASK IF YOU MUST". leaders and ministers of health who then don't wear masks on their own face and also challenge medical doctors to fistfights in the street (this is actually true).

My area is tier 4 now, we were originally tier 2 but yeah I don't care about not seeing people at Christmas, I'd rather my family stay safe and I'm not risking my own health either

It's fine. Surprisingly sensible from this government. Although the test is if they'll close schools next month. Yes I'm in the UK.
