The moment a task is completed they stop existing. There was an episode where a bunch of Meeseeks were prevented from doing a task and were stuck existing indefinitely and they didn't like it and tried to kill the person responsible ... You give that Mr. Meeseeks any task you want and it will fulfill that task. After fulfilling that task, it will die and disappear. The downside is that existence is pain to Mr. Meeseeks. They are so competent that they usually fulfill their task within a couple of hours. If they exist longer than that, their bodies and sanity starts to degrade. Despite their wish for death, they'll survive regardless of how much physical damage they take. The one time we've seen this, they decided that the best way to solve the problem was murdering the one who gave them the impossible task.
