The combat is messy and the overall game progression is kind of hit or miss, but there's something weirdly compelling about it. Can't quite put my finger on what it is.

I should pick it back up again now that I have a PS5. Or wait til the upgrade probs. It ran like shit on PS4 even after the updates. Kinda made me not enjoy my experience with the game.

personally, I wasn't feeling it.

Jesse isn't that great of a character, the story isn't that compelling, and the payoff is pretty weak.

there's also very little enemy variety, so the combat ended up feeling stale.

the only parts that I liked were Ahti(?) and the maze at the end.

but tbf, I didn't do most of the side-missions or play the DLCs.

Uh the story and odd David Lynch-esque characters in it? I didn't even play Alan Wake prior to this game but now I really want to given all the connections that are expanded into the AWE.

Hard disagree on the combat being messy

I felt like such an un-hittable machine by the end. Great power fantasy game.

I like everything except the level design. I understand it play heavy into the story, but it's still not enjoyable and it's confusing as fuck for someone like me who sometimes zones out during traverse and combat.

I wanted to love it after reading some of the glowing reviews but I just couldnt get into it. The story just couldnt hook me, it was just too weird and purposefully avoiding context to anything I was doing. That would be fine but the gameplay wasnt interesting enough for me to carry on, and the map was so annoying to navigate.

David Lynch should team up with Remedy and have input on some weird as shit game. They're already channeling him on purpose.

Beautiful game with amazing characters, reminded me of one of my favorite games plus I love the Alan Wake story so this was a dream come true
