It came out today, and its hot garbage. I'm not the best Meat Boy player, but even I can finish the first world without any deaths. 1st level of this game 12 deaths. And its not because the game is hard. It isn't hard. But its an auto runner, like Jetpack Joyride. Just not as fun. I'm dying to really stupid things. like for example, one part you have to force your character to slide down a wall, just so he can turn around so you can get access to the wall behind him. It's really stupid.

Wait until the Steam version comes out, and someone patches out the forced auto runner.

Yes, I get that the original was hard. But the original also allowed you to control your movement. So if you screwed up on a jump it was because you screwed up on it. You had the option to attempt the jump again, and practice that way. I know I sound like a child, but its a bit ridiculous when you think of how SMB and End is Nigh played compared to this.

If I want to practice an area of the level, to get decent at it, I don't have that option. I have to finish the level or force a death on myself. I like having control of my character. Maybe its just me, but the auto runner isn't done as well as games like Bit Trip Runner or even Jetpack Joyride.

I'm going to assume the controls just take a little getting used to until I play it for myself. With the original, countless people complained that the controls were "too slippery" when they were actually unbelievably tight and precise once you had enough time with them.

Sigh... at least some people in the thread are understanding the frustration. Go and buy it then. If you enjoy it, by all means enjoy it, but it really doesn't feel like Super Meat Boy.

3 words. SUPER MEAT BOY. That alone was reason enough to try it. And no, I didn't know it was an auto-runner. I've been too busy with College, me being the selfish prick that I am. The fact that its less skill based and more timing based just frustrates me. I already asked Nintendo for a refund. Going to spend that money on something else, probably Smash Brothers.

Controls seem fine so far, but the fact that you can't turn around is already annoying. I genuinely don't know how to complete the second level, and not for lack of platforming skill. Now I'm just worried this might be a puzzle platformer.

Yeah, I tried to get through the 2nd level, I got stuck where you had to duck below 3 saws and then immediately jump over a way too big of a saw and then duck again. It's near impossible. I just gave up on it. Not worth the frustration.

I ended up skipping it and moving on. The biggest issue I have so far is the autorunner aspect. Though it's obvious that the game was designed around it, as there are areas solely for turning around, it sure doesn't feel like they made the "right" choice. It's limiting in the worst way.

Everything else looks great. They have added combinations that I really really like. I like the sliding and even the punch. It's just that one part I don't like. I have nearly 1000 hours into the original, and about 300 into End is Nigh. At least I still have Isaac to look forward to.

yeah, i was way into the first one. if they think it's because i liked the "lul so randomz" art and design over the tight, demanding gameplay, they made a mistake.

auto runners just remind me of terrible mario maker levels and the absolute mess that was the xna creators club on Xbox 360

How do you get through the hop over the high saw when you have the two giant saws waiting on the other side? I genuinely couldnt figure it out. I finished the rest of the levels in there fine.

You press down on the d-pad and Meat Boy should plummet down instead. I have a hunch you'll be utilizing that a lot to get the high scores to unlock Dark stages.

Oh really? I hadn't learned that control yet when I played that stage, so I'm surprised it's necessary. :/

I played a couple worlds in the original last night just to confirm its still as good as I remember it and yes, its every bit the masterpiece it was a decade ago, and I know Forever has no chance when compared with it.

Still, I played through the second world last night, and again, couldnt figure out a section in one of the levels and had to skip it, but I beat the rest, along with the boss. I think this one is a lot more accessible for people who thought the original was too hard at the very least.

Does anyone else have a crashing to desktop issue? It didn't at all until I got to the last stage of world 3 and it's done it twice now (once during the stage, once during the boss).
