How would you answer "tell me about yourself" in a job interview? And what other good interview tips you know? When I got my first job ever a while back I literally answered what my favorite things to do, favorite food, my hobbies, etc. but I now thinking back that sounds dumb. With my current job I interviewed 5 years back I got that same question and answered with "I'm all about hard work and team work" then I'd say why I'm a hard worker and my team work skills. What other stuff should I say other than hard and team work?

I opened with a funny (but true) story that was tangentially related to the job I was applying for, then segued into how I developed a passion for the field, and why I'm interested in this particular job.

Thats because he's going about it wrong. Its like going up to a girl and telling her you have a big dick and a million dollars. Its better to subcommunicate it than to state it. Tell a story, use examples

I live in the American Gardens Building on West 81st Street on the 11th floor. My name is green butter. Im 27 years old. I believe in taking care of myself, and a balanced diet and a rigorous exercise routine. In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, Ill put on an ice pack while doing my stomach crunches. I can do a thousand now. After I remove the ice pack I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial masque which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion. There is an idea of a green butter. Some kind of abstraction. But there is no real me. Only an entity. Something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours, and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable, I simply am not there.

Worked with a guy who went into an interview to get a promotion. When asked to give an example of a time when he showed initiative, he broke out a story about strangling a squirrel on a camping trip.

They referred him to a psychiatrist. He didn't get the promotion, quit and then sued.

Its all about messaging. All he had to do was say he volunteered time taking care of abused animals and everything would have been fine.

To give a serious answer, you give a detailed overview of your chief qualifications and reasons they should hire you. You say I'm an X (career title) with Y years of experience doing Z (activities directly related to the job).
