ive only played the Ezio trilogy, AC3 and part of Black Flag

I heard the series gets real bad after Black Flag. I even heard AC3 sucks but I thought it was fine.

Is Valhalla any good?

Should I go back and play Black Flag?

Odyssey's sick, people bagged on how long it is, but I like a game where you can just enjoy the journey. It also has way more interesting abilities and perks and stuff than Valhalla.

Like the same shit you start Valhalla with, you end Valhalla with, the gear variety has completely tanked.

I've only played 1, 2, Brotherhood and part of Revelations. I heard that starting in Origins, it turns into more of an rpg series

I just looked up the skill trees. There's some meat there but it doesn't sound exciting. Same ol AC shit

The gear sounds good to me though. Unique items that you can upgrade instead of random loot, which I vastly prefer. I dislike random loot

i don't like it because it means 99% of it is trash with your only way of getting "good" stuff being to google where it is. with random loot you had lots of trash that still had a purpose for selling or breaking into resources, but also unique stuff, along with a chance to find a nice surprise. be prepared for many many shields with shitty perks that make no sense

also you could upgrade all your loot in odyssey, AND pick how you wanted it to look. now everything's forced, including the appearance changes when you upgrade. i personally don't like being gold and silver with gems and shit all over my viking, but you have to become a rhinestone cowboy

the way gear works, (and entire weapon types) like i already said, but also naval combat, the politicians thing, mercenaries, radiant daily missions, the oikos of olympus or whatever, (reda's shop and dailies are the epitome of stripped down and copy-paste)

also ummm... bosses? a certain kind of boss, i think you get what i mean.

tbh castle sieges are basically the battles from odyssey. not sure in a better or worse way, though. i just mean content in general. everything's been stripped down. nothing feels meaningful. and these mysteries things? good lord, what a waste of time. people give odyssey shit for having boring stuff? have you SEEN standing stones? the mushrooms? have mercy

Sounds better than "my servant stole my bedpan and sold it to bandits can you get it for me?" and then being sent across the whole world to get a bedpan.

Odyssey was really bad coming from Origins.

Also people who say the series got bad after Black Flag are dumb - Rogue is the exact same thing as Black Flag.

I'm enjoying it so far. Probably where I'd knock it is that Odyssey had a tighter loop of getting new loot and abilities, so I always felt like I was trying something new out. Whereas Valhalla is much stingier with loot, as described, and the skill tree includes a lot of filler stat upgrades. But the world feels more dynamic, it feels like my actions are contributing to larger goals in a real way.

RIP.

Odyssey is really overrated imo. Combat is cleaner than Origins but that's about all it has going for it. The story is terrible, doesn't really have anything to do with the Assassins, there's an oversaturation of meaningless content, just gets really grindy after a while. Also scaling enemies was a stupid design choice.

I found a note on a Synchronization point from a guy who claimed he found out how to shapeshift just like the gods. All he needed to do was believe. Found his body after I leaped. He barely missed the hay bale.

There's another side-quest about a ventriloquist tricking passersby into giving him money with a dead body propped up against a cave entrance.

The game has tons of great side-bits. Don't knock it. The Orlog and Cairn mini-games are fun, too.

Transmog was added in an update to Odyssey, it will likely be added to Valhalla. You're comparing a finished, fully updated game with DLC to a game that recently launched
