That's set far and away from the Skywalker Saga. I think he had some good ideas, but placing him in the middle of the trilogy and telling him to do whatever with the script was a bad idea. There's some things, however, that people completely overreact to regarding The Last Jedi and some that are justified.

It was certainly quite a departure when the first movie in the new trilogy was looking pretty samey.
