Many people want 2020 to end because 2021 will be magically better and also keep blaming the year 2020 for celebrities dying.

As you know, years and calendars are just humans constructs and many societies don't even use our calendar (aside from business purposes).

Do people (maybe subconciously) assign calendars some sort of mystic importance? Maybe it's because of the numbers, like the people who swear they see 11:11 everytime?

Obviously, yeah, although the way we do it now seems to be a meme phenomenon.

Well, certain things do go in yearly cycles.

School, politics, tv seasons.

Imagine the hysteria if Covid-19 went down in 2012.

Though I truly am interested in what TC is getting at. By believing something has a certain value empowers it to have value.

Who's to say if there is some sort of influence on the physical world by assigning that value to date or a specific year.

A previous poster also said it's the same as religion. Same as making a wish.

But without calendars how will we know what day, month, and year it is?
