So I'm was watching Hamilton again and a question occured to me: The Revolutionary War created an entirely new nation that completely changed the world. So since that time, has there been an event as significant to the entire planet?

Someone once became the prince of a town called Bel Air.

I'd call the sacking and burning of the Library of Alexandria a significant world changing event.

you were raised in the us, werent you tc?

nations have existed for centuries that shaped civilization much more than the us. if the us hadnt begun shortly before the industrial revolution, it wouldnt have really accomplished anything more than any other country.

I missed this part of the topic. If you want to be pedantic, climate change has far greater ramifications to world events than the revolutionary war. Even without that, WW1 and 2 were far more incredible on a world stage than the revolutionary war.

Yes I am. And the question was about AFTER the Revolutionary War.

The dropping of the atomic bomb permanently changed the face of war and politics.

WW 2 seems like the best candidate to me.

WW2 is important yes, but if the bomb had never been developed and dropped, the entire post war world looks very different. There were multiple points afterward where, if not for the threat of nuclear warfare, WW3 kicks off.

World War 1.

Without World War 1 the entire 20th century plays out completely differently.

No Hitler, no rise of Fascism, no Communist Revolutions, no splitting of the Ottoman Empire, etc.

The use of nuclear bombs would be a part of WW 2, wouldn't it?
