Working 4 days a week is a true joy, 32 hour weeks is the best balance there is for work time and time off. That 3rd day being able to cut up the week, or 3 days all together or every other day your off just kills stress.

Find a good employer who shares your values.

Plus you can suck up that extra overtime in a longer week.

some folks are totally comfortable working 80 hour weeks. they'd rather be at work than at home. we have a dude like that where i work and he drives me insane. i worked 70 hour weeks for a few months... never doing that again if i can avoid it.

I do not know anyone who would want 10 hour days, that is wasting to much time at work.

i have a 4 day work week...but i also work 11 hours a day. Even working that many hours a week, having 3 days off is so nice and much better than the old 8 hours/2 days off i was doing...and i work in a much more strenuous job now.

What kind of work do you do?

I generally prefer 5 8s over 4 10s.

Im in no way productive in any other parts of my life on my days off. Getting ready for work forces me out of bed and into real clothes which then gets me more motivated to spend time with loved ones instead of browse the internet all day. Also I start to get antsy at work after about 6 hours. Id actually prefer 6 day work weeks if it meant fewer hours a day.

I pretty much work a 4 day work week right now. Definitely makes it easier to get things done. Can book car and doctors appointments easily and make it into the bank while it's open.

In the middle of the year there was a survey to see if people wanted to switch to a 4/10 schedule, and I think it was 87% of people voted yes (a few thousand people took the survey). So starting next week we're moving to the 4/10 schedule. I don't know how I feel about it yet, 10 hour days are long, but 3 day weekends are nice.

Our previous schedule was where we work 9 hour days normally but get every other Friday off. So we're not jumping from 8 hour days right to 10 hour days, we've been used to 9 hours for a while so it probably won't be too bad.

Correct and that's fine but let's not pretend like that extra time is of any real use if that's all that's going to be done with it. Id rather spread my time off around because once I'm up and about im more inclined to keep doing other things.
