I think Im weird when it comes to this opinion. Im definitely an introvert for sure however, I really like being one. I think I might be in the minority with this. I enjoy the quiet life and Im not ever really thinking about how I wish I was more outgoing. Sure it would open more doors but it will also create more problems for me. I can appear to be more outgoing if the situation calls for it. However, I dont ever wish I could always be that person.

My friends keep trying to change me. They want me to be more out going, meet other people, actively try to get a girlfriend/wife, etc. Naw. Im good. If I find a woman I really care about and she cares about me then sure. If not? Oh well. Im happy with being alone.

My friends really are concerned because Ive been really trying to better myself as a person in all aspects. They think Im doing it to attract someone but in reality Im doing it for myself so its kinda weird.

Would I like to get a lot of energy from conversations instead of feeling completely drained? Extroverts have the better deal.

Hate it. Wish I could go out and socialize consistently without needing to take days off to myself. It really does get exhausting.

The only time it has ever done me any good, was during this pandemic. Otherwise my whole life, it's been the one thing I most wished I could change about myself.

I have a few friends who are going absolutely crazy with all the lockdowns and restrictions on visiting and etc and meanwhile it barely even feels that much out of the ordinary to me

I guess I would too but I really enjoy my alone time too. I guess an Ambivert would be perfect for this problem and everyone in general. However, if I had to pick between struggling to talk to people for a long time and enjoy being alone vs it being easy to talk to people for along time but struggle to be alone... I would take the former. The ability to be at peace with yourself while being alone is an important life skill IMO.

Sometimes I do wish I had better social skills. But I've been working on that and even then I still have the need to be away from people sometimes so I don't really think its all that bad.

Also this, almost nothing has changed in my routine during lockdown cause usually I'd just go home anyway

Sure. I like independence in in general, so seeing everyone go insane with lockdown while I'm enjoying the solitude has me thinkin at least I have something going for me.

This. I dont like to rely on other people. I also dont like bothering others with my problems. Ill either look up how to solve them or Ill ask a forum, like Gamefaqs, on how to solve a problem. This is different because you can ignore it if it doesnt interest you so I at least know your response was out of interest in some way

If youre an introvert without friends life can feel like an inescapable pit of loneliness.

Unless youre one of those lone wolf hermit introverts I guess.

I spend a lot of time kinda wishing I'd never been born, my dad told me on my birthday that he was glad I was born and when the call ended all I could think is "Why? if I didn't exist you'd still have my brothers who are much better than me, what good do I do for you to exist?"

Kind of.

I like that most times no one bothers me and I can do what I want. Other times I long for friendship other than immediate family. Unfortunately all my friends either died or got hooked on hard drugs so I became a loner in hopes of not falling down the same spiral. I dipped my toes into that world but it wasn't for me.

Im kinda like that? Its weird. I do have a decent amount of friends. About 7. However, we are spread across the US. Plenty of reasons for that. Jobs, college, family moved, etc. Where I am now? Almost no one in my area. However, I feel that gaming has REALLY helped with this. We can connect and play games together anywhere. I also tend to meet new people online that are friends of friends.

I guess its a good thing Im into shooters which ends up having me inadvertently meeting new people who become decent friends with online. It takes years of constant interaction with people like that for me to consider them a close friend and not an acquaintance.

Once youve accepted it and embraced it it can be quite nice and liberating. Especially if youre able to convey to people you arent being a dick and just are they way .

Issue is that you still have to put yourself into situations that are difficult. Like Im an introvert but do IT consulting and have to go to client sites etc and some days I just really cant cope and am a complete mess. Some days I can fake it pretty well but anxiety also plays a part and if stuff starts doing south internally Im a fucking mess.

Im not sure Im a true introvert, just very used to being isolated.

How long have you been in consulting? Are you travelling? I had a consulting gig where I travelled to clients weekly and I was a complete mess a large portion of the time.

Introvertedness makes me feel special and above the normies

Split between office and clients sites. Im lucky in that its maybe 4 or 5 days a month. Less now everything is remote. I had two weeks on one site a while back which was hard.

Problem is I love going new places and going out in the evenings and exploring I love. Its just the work side and actually its more the people side than the tech side I struggle with.

But yeah some days my wife has to literally talk me into getting out the car and in the train station if Im going London lol.

I know that feeling. I was asked to speak at my mothers 60th birthday party on the fly. Lets say it went VERY poorly. What I said was very... meh. I felt like I was going to pass out and I was shaking so bad it sounded like I was on the verge of tears when I wasnt.

Yeah, I love it. I love being by myself, I love alone time, I love doing things my own way. The only annoying part about it is, people that think introversion is the same thing as social anxiety or being lonely. Many people like me, I love to hangout with people but I restrict social interactions pretty much only to the weekends, or just one day a week. Some people don't quite understand it but I'm always upfront and tell them I like to be alone.

I love it.
