They unlock fast travel points, which are especially useful for the ones on the islands so you don't have to sail to them.

Oh hey, just noticed when looking at that Gwent book that I've cleared the cards in Velen now. Must have happened while I was running around the Novigrad countryside. I guess the game considers part of that to be in Velen.

There's just a siege tower sitting in a field here. How in the world did that get there? The Skelligers don't seem like the type to build siege equipment, and I wouldn't think you'd be able to transport it to the island.

also, I think there's a reason for this. there's a castle or fort or something in the direction the siege tower is facing iirc. I guess it got abandoned

There is an absolutely excessive number of underwater loot locations around Skellige. I'm normally a completionist, but there's just no way I see myself going around to collect all of those.

yeah the skellige loot was painful to get all of. I did it all just cause and to see if there was anything special, but you can definitely safely ignore the loot. it's literally just random crap like in every other chest

I just get satisfaction from clearing the map of ?s for some reason. I put on podcasts to pass the time when I was going for all the sunken loot

I think most of the Skellige loot is levelled, so raiding all the "?" spots early might not be amazing. That is, if you care about shoring up funds for the expansions' moneysink stuff. Exploring Skellige is really a fun, relaxing activity, though. First-timers blindly trying to find witcher blueprints are gonna have a bad time. :P

That vow of silence quest is great. I like how it seemed like a generic quest before that, but the joke makes it way more memorable.

Cruel to lift the curse and then immediately kill him anyway, but he deserved it.
