His argument about building a more progressive Redania wasn't a bad one, but I just can't abide by the methods he chose to try to get there.

That reminds me, is there a map I can look at so I know where all these kingdoms are? I get that Redania is north of the Pontar, Temeria is south, and Nilfgaard is somewhere further south than that, but I have no idea where, say, Kovir, Cintra, or Rivia are.

That's odd. I remember back at the beginning of the game I said that Sle de Tansarville blew herself up, but when I rescued Margarita there, it gave me a character entry that said she was in the prison and was given a mercy kill by Geralt. Must be a bug of some kind.

I did them after but you can do hearts of stone during. blood and wine is meant to be post-game. They're separate storylines from the main plot

I fucking knew that big tower was going to play some part. It just had that look to it.

It did get a little easy toward the end because I think I was a bit overleveled, and i probably should have turned the difficulty up, but it wasn't too big of a deal. I barely ever touched alchemy, and I didn't use signs all that much except Quen. Fast attacks all day, every day.

yeah I think the gameplay is fine. alchemy is pretty much needed only at higher difficulties. it's really useful. signs are good too, particularly quen as you've seen

I did use Igni quite a bit earlier in the game, but its effectiveness dropped off a lot as enemies got stronger

The people complaining about TW3's combat really pile on the hyperbole. Take one look at TW2's combat and the improvements are self-evident. It's true that swords + bombs + ballet moves can wear a bit thin by the end (this can be a 100- to 200-hour adventure, after all), but it's definitely competent. When I first played, the only controls that kinda sucked were swimming, and those were eventually improved.

BTW, how'd you do in finding Witcher gear blueprints?

I've found all the witcher gear so far except a few pieces of the Wolf set. Using mastercrafted Cat armor and Bear swords

I never messed with Alchemy either (except getting that one skill that increases mutagen bonuses after respec'ing way later) but I dabbled with the magic a bit. Increasing the sign intensity means enemies get ingnited more often, so it's a nice option to be able stop enemies in their tracks with either Igni or Axii and then charging up one of those big overhanded heavy attacks rather than just dodging all the time. Parrying is a thing too, though I usually only do that if I'm fighting one or two dudes.

Man you're in for a treat with Hearts of Stone, I absolutely love the main questline of that one. Blood & Wine is like a whole-ass game with all it's new content, but HoS as a single questline is so good.
