Oh man I just realized something sad. Tomorrow night is fireworks night, but our hospitals are already full of COVID patients. Here in LA ambulances are already being turned away because hospitals are simply too full.
Tomorrow night and the next day is going to suck for a lot of people who will be missing hands and fingers with little to no treatment. On top of that, DUI's, drunken fights, and other injuries are going to be nearly untreatable.

Edit:
I am specifically talking about LA. I have two very close friends who work in hospitals right now, one as a head nurse and another in geriatrics. While I don't know the state of hospitals across the entire US I do know in California it's dire.

Sure that's yearly and spread out across all of the US. But my point is that people who in years prior could be treated won't be this year. Imagine a finger being blown off and the hospitals just saying "tough, we're full."

They've banned fireworks here for the New Year. They're putting extra police on the ground over NYE too to enforce it

Yeah any DUI's, which I imagine will still be fairly common from "small family gatherings" will have harsher consequences than normal.

Dude I live in East LA and those fireworks will be going on all night. And Latinos have been hit super hard by the pandemic so I hope people are more careful tomorrow

Yeah I didn't want to generalize but I used to live in the Inland Empire and still have family over there. The fireworks have been bad all week.

I remember the high school riot, that was "fun."
Anyway, my wife's family who is in Fontana said they had fireworks earlier today, and my family in San Bernardino saw fireworks. No idea my man.
