1.2 TB data caps across it's coverage areas and increased prices everywhere.

If you have comcast, like me, we are about to get hosed. Especially because we download games.

Just consider that downloading a single video game these days can be about 10% of that.

American internet providers are such scum. We need better regulation or something for this.

Not sure if it's spectrum or charter but they are forbidden to add caps until 2025 due to merger deal. However, they are appealing to the government to let them remove that from the agreement to let them add caps in may of 2021.

For $30 a month you can have unlimited data or they will charge you $10 per 50GBs over. For reference, I used 2.6 TB in December due to new console and kid downloading games.

If you use their modem and their security subscription for $25 a month, they will give you unlimited data also. (They also use their modems as hotspots for other people).

Or if you use their tv/internet plans with save more or whatever plans they will give you unlimited data.

Trying to force you to use their products elsewhere by fucking you on internet.

Seriously? Comcast has basically a monopoly on service in most of their areas.

I, for example, have a choice between Comcast or a 2MB D/L speed Verizon DSL.

Possibly a dialup earthlink also. Not sure if they still exist or not.

I have other choices but the quality difference is fairly absurd. We're talking a difference in download speeds in a multiple approaching double digits. Back when I wasn't able to get Comcast in an apartment I lived in for about a year, achieving a 720p stream was generally a pipe dream.

Comcast is not the only option in my area, but it's the only VIABLE option.

This isn't even remotely true. Comcast is often the only viable option if not the only option in an area.

Comcast and such worked endlessly to ensure google couldn't lay fiber to enter the market.

First they force you in lockdown, then they cap the data. Lmao

To be fair, many ISP services have been pushing data caps long before Covid. That makes it no less disgusting though.

My only choice in my area is a local company or satellite and that's it. And the local company is hated by basically everyone that uses it but it's making a killing cause that's all there really is. Like it has 1.5 stars on Google. It's bullshit.

Comcast and Time Warner have literally split up the nation into a case of "you take that half, i'll take this one."
i'm fortunate to have two main providers for cable. in NYC.

They're the only choice in my area. I still don't have them, because they require us to pay to bring a line in. But it'd definitely be an upgrade to my terrible DSL that's only 2mbps

I'm in the part of the country that uses Cox.

They're just as bad.

How much do you guys pay for internet anyway (and where do you live)?

I pay $75 for 300mb with Cox and have no idea if I'm getting a great deal or poked in the proper. Vegas area.

I pay $120 for 1GB connection (and basic tv I never use because it's supposedly cheaper to have the package) but I feel like I see no difference in speed from my 100mb speed connection and my 1gb connection. So, I dunno. Pretty sure comcast throttles me also.

$60~ and 150mbps. internet only.
bear in mind i do have to call every year or so because otherwise it jumps up. technically they can throw more speed and not raise the price but i live alone and the increase really would not make much difference. if it keeps the bill lower, i'm good.
