Of that list its the best on the list with the exception of Hades. But Hades is a relatively unknown property. So obviously FF7 is gonna win.

i thought it was alright but dead cells is still the better game then about like 10 hours in, i got addicted and finally understood why its a GOTY contender

The thing that annoyed me about the Remake is that it could have been amazing, but there were so many unforced error and easily-avoided screw-ups that just made the game less fun.

I platinumed the game and to the very last battle, it felt like I was wrestling with the combat system trying to get it to do what I wanted. I only felt that maybe one or two bosses felt "honestly" difficult; every other time I lost, it just felt like bullshit where the combat system was being an asshole for no particularly good reason. I grew increasingly infuriated with the sections of the game where it forced you into a slow walk for no particularly good reason or made you squeeze by a piece of scenery either to hide a loading screen or, more frequently, just because the developers figured it added immersion or something.

The visuals were phenomenal and the music was pretty good. The story was kind of ass, because it felt super-padded (unsurprising, given that they took eight hours of a game and stretched it to 40) and it wasn't even good padding - they didn't really flesh out much from the characters we already had and the ones they added in were pretty much all eminently forgettable. Some of the gameplay decisions felt truly bizarre - who on earth thought that mechanical-hand "minigame" in the tunnel section was not only fun, but fun enough to have us do it multiple times?

On the rare occasions where the game pulled its head out of its own ass for five minutes and got out of its own way, it actually was pretty good. But those moments were few and far between and the game just seemed violently opposed to the idea of letting the players have fun in an unscripted way.

I agree with the OP that the game was merely okay at best. A solid 6 out of 10; maybe 7, if I'm feeling charitable.

I disagree, it has more than plenty of content, but the most important thing is, is almost infinitely replayable with endless different options and possibilities and extremely fun while both fulfilling the wowfactor of being the most spectacular cutting edge advanced combat system in gaming and still keeping the spirit of materias and the original FF7 gameplay.

FF7R has the sickest combat right now, infinitely configurable yet balanced real time combat where you control every part of the 3d battle and watch it unfold in real time:

FF7R is like all the almost infinite combinations of the original multiplied exponentially now that it's in real time, like the ultimate 3d marvel vs capcom, where all the helpers move as one, you position and order all the characters as if they were one collective and completely control the battle, there are infinite combinations to try out if you sync with the system and it all becomes second nature, it's so intuitive and the possibilities are endless, let yourself intuitively freeflow like second nature when you understand how to sync the characters.

I mean, it has helpers, helper assists, team combos, team air combos, OTG, wall and ground bounces, supers, team supers, supers that use multiple guages, infinites...

And they reimagined the soundtrack into electric dance (which sells for over $300 on ebay) and reimagined all the characters and still made it a masterpiece on it's own:

It's what I want from these games. A huge infinitely super fun replayable extremely ambitious cutting edge battle system and a huge beautiful fanservice open world to vacation in with the FF7 lore and characters reimagined with the FF7 style reimagined. The first was way beyond my imagined expectations. And the second will be even way more ambitious.

Pretty pathetic but it's FF7, "teh greatest gaem evar", so of course people blindly love it.

So much thrilling padding. So much insignificant minor characters mugging for the camera. And a brand new Soldier who might as well be all the dumb FF tropes put together.

It's basically everything I expected it to be, because Squeenix has zero self-restraint.
