If you were the wife would you do it?

A woman has been criticised by her husband and his family for refusing to name her unborn daughter after her husband's late wife.

The woman and her hubby are expecting a little girl, but unlike many parents who find naming their newborn challenging, the dad-to-be knew exactly what he wanted to call his newborn. But when he told his wife his plans to name the tot after his deceased wife, she was outraged.

"So my husband and his family say that Im overreacting by refusing to name our (not yet born) daughter after his deceased ex-wife. I know that its sad that she passed away but I think I am being reasonable enough by having their wedding pics still about as well as him wearing their wedding rings around his neck. I think naming our child after her is a step too far. Am I wrong?"

Whilst the majority of people were stunned by his "selfish" proposal, others said he clearly needs help grieving his late wife.

One said: "Yes that is so wrong. Doesn't he have any feeling as to how it must make you feel? Why did he marry you if he is still mourning for his passed wife, that is so selfish. He needs to wake up to himself and his family too.

"I am sorry but you deserve a husband who puts you and your child first not his deceased wife."

Another added: "It is sad that his previous wife has passed but you are his future and so is your child. They are being totally unreasonable and selfish to you."

A third commented: "Oh no, that's weird. The baby deserves her own identity. Simple as that. I think your husband needs some grief counselling. I don't think he is seeing this clearly," while a fourth wrote: "The discussion should be between you and your husband. Should not allow the family to get involved."

And: "Thats creepy & wrong on so many levels! He has enough memories of her in his heart, in photos & by wearing their wedding rings around his neck!", said another.

What would you do if this was your husband? Or if you struggle to imagine that, if your wife was pregnant and wanted to name it after her ex?

Wtf? It sounds like he's having trouble moving on. I could see if his ex wife was pregnant, she died, but they were able to save the baby and he wanted to name THAT baby after the now deceased mother. But not this. This child has nothing to do with the ex wife.

I'd perhaps concede to a middle name, at most. A daughter and (ex or living) wife shouldn't be occupying the type of same place in your heart, anyhow.

Spoken like someone who has never been in love.

They never ever leave your heart. If they do then you didn't love them, you just liked them. There are people who died over a decade ago that I still think about every day

No, bro. Conflating your daughter and wife is never okay. My dead grandma and my favorite dog aren't the same. My spouse and my dead high school friend aren't the same.

I'm not saying they need to "leave your heart." I'm saying "You shouldn't think of your beloved wife as continuing to live on with you every time you look at the child you conceived with someone else."

There is enough of a shrine built to this woman already. Although it's tragic that their lives couldn't be spent together and there would never be children of that union, it is wholly wrong to foist that lifelong personal misery and neurosis onto your child's name and upbringing.

Its easier to love than to like someone.

This guy has issues and needs to grieve and move on. He shouldnt have their wedding picture up and carry around his wedding ring to his deceased wife while living with his new wife. Its till death not forever.

*clears throat*

ah hum, Well actually...

"Maron" (Krillin's ex) is a non-canon filler creation and clearly Toei animation's idea of feeding Krillin's most likely repressed sexual urges towards Bulma. Thus he never actually met this "Maron" and his own daughter's name, "Marron" is another pun related to his own name. And since #18 clearly wears the pants in the family, I'm sure she's the one who chose the name in respect to her husband.

And I voted no.

Filler scene as well. But both in both cases in anime (dub and non-dub), he simply pronounced Marron's name wrong.

Honestly it's a red flag. She shouldn't even agreed to having their wedding pics still out in the open. Next thing you know he goes all Ned Flanders and tries to cut her hair the same style as the ex in her sleep.

He's still can't let go of his ex girlfriend. She needs to either make him change it or dump him.
