I've only played the second one, but I really enjoyed it.

it probably has the best gameplay mechanics in a turn-based RPG, from my experience.

I also really dig how when you talk to someone, if there's text that doesn't come from a speaker, like it's describing a person or a scene, then a narrator takes over.

It's good. Very hard and doesn't guide you much. I'm not a huge fan of it compared to the second.

Just prepare to die a lot till you get your grips.

Whats the biggest difference between the first and second? >_>

Heard the second one was able to take everything about the first and make it even better - sometimes I like to play the first one just so it doesnt suck as much playing without the QoL improvements though.

Yeah, I assume its something like OG fallout >_>

As a huge fan of Baldurs Gate I was sort of skeptical of the series going turn based - but thats not a big deal since real time with pause is sort of the same thing >___>

Just really interested in seeing how the studio that makes these games treats the atmosphere of the game since so far the art direction looks too.. different to feel like a Baldurs Gate game <_<

I played it but stopped after a certain point for some reason and haven't gone back to it since. I do remember enjoying. I thought it was pretty unique that you actually create two characters and they're partners essentially solving crimes lol. I should get back into it some day.

I know! I should be used to it since in Icewind Dale you can make a party of 6 (sometimes you can do with 4 or just solo it) but these games sometimes tend to have so many kits and classes that Im just like man maybe someone can just spare me in trying to find which class lets you do the most for now

lol I gave them a glance but didnt know if someone on CE also has played this series

if it ever comes to the PS4, then yea. idk if I'm getting any new console for the next few years.

in recent memory, I also really liked Wasteland 3, even though it was really buggy, and crashed on me a few times.

I also want to say that Pillars of Eternity II has good gameplay, but the mechanics are kinda hard for me to understand on console; like, nothing has clicked for me yet.

It just guides you better. They are similar games but the second one is more refined and streamlined.

The first ones dumps you in it before even the first boss. It expects you to find your own way, which some people like. I found myself getting lost constantly and no matter where I went I was massively under leveled.

Heard you, yeah sounds a lot like BG:I or really any point and click adventure >_>

Which is really annoying considering the amount of variety the different classes have

Only way to know is to jump right in it I guess, Im letting my mouse charge for a bit since on all days I actually get to sit down and play it on my PC the stupid thing dies -.-

I always felt these sorta games made more sense on PC until I got XCOM on PS+

Thoroughly enjoyed it, didnt get to finish it though

Ive got over a thousand hours in it. Favorite RPG ever made. Lemme know if youve got any questions.

Keep in mind, classes are somewhat like Dark Souls. They do not DICTATE what you can do all game. They simply nudge you in a specific direction. Any class can do anything.

The class system is very much whatever you want it to be.

Oh nice, yeah I was getting real hung up on that >_>

I keep thinking its DnD style with a bunch of life locking class decisions so I was like aww man Im gonna have to read up on all this so I dont get screwed later

Probably because Im literally back in point and click mode on a PC and I relate everything to Baldurs Gate smh

You gonna get BG3? Ever play BG??

No, I havent played the older BG games. I got BG3, but Im waiting for the full release. Since its in early access, your saves get wiped every now and again. No bueno.

Sitting in my library though, and Ill definitely play it when its done. Hyped af for it tbh, what I played was pretty fun!

When choosing a class, just pick whichever you want your starting weapon to be. Then customize the class, your stats, starting skills, etc. If you customize everything, your starting class literally only changes your starting weapon.
