I created a clan for us. I just called it PrinCEsses, so once you unlock the clans feature, search that name in the clans menu, look for the one created by Cal (my in-game name), and then send a request to join it. Either that or post your user ID in this topic, but I can't send you an invite until you've cleared a certain story mission (3-1 Normal, I think) and unlocked the clans feature though.

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST why doesnt Azur Lane have a skip or speed up function in exercise mode? I had to sit there until only 20 seconds were left, watching Unicorn vs whatever my opponents remaining vanguard was, with both of them sadly whiffing attacks until finally one of Unicorns bombers hit. That pissed me off so badly <_<

Then again, this is Yostar, right? The same guys who make you just leave Arknights on for like 15 minutes to auto finish Annihilation...

So I'm rocking Makoto, Djeeta, Yui, Yukari and Miyako. Anyone else (maybe crazy 1 or 2 stars) I should sub in? For 3 stars I also have Io, Shizuru and Akino. This is mainly for trying to get through story/dungeon

I agree with you that the optics behind such a pack being there at launch don't look very good. But to be fair, a 10-pull with a guaranteed max rarity card for only $12 (buy the once-per-day 500 jewels for $4 pack three times) is an excellent deal. If I weren't completely unable to buy jewels right now because my game crashes whenever I try to select anything in the jewel shop, I'd probably spend that $12 and get it.

Wow, what a ripoff. Not the price itself, though thats more than Id expect personally, but the exchange rate. Id be paying $6 more than the exchange rate should be. Wonder who pockets the extra... The other games I play charge in USD, so this is the Ive seen this horrible exchange rate.

Of course, first I have to get the account problem fixed before Id even consider it.

There is a speed up, but only after both sides vanguards are defeated lol.

That party is already pretty great. The best physical tank in the game, two healers (one of which also charges TP and another that can attack pretty well) and two great damage dealers. If you need more magic attacking power for a certain enemy, you can swap Io in as well.

Same as I said above. Two pretty good healers, two great damage dealers, and the best physical tank. That's the recipe for success early on.

As for lower-ranked characters to look into... Kokkoro is the next best out of the starting units for her useful buffing abilities. Suzuna is a sniper with massive damage potential. Once you start dealing with the harder dungeons and the Princess Arena, you'll need more tanks, so Pecorine (after ascending to 2 stars) and Kuka are also pretty good. Kuka is notably the only tank in the game at launch that primarily focuses on magic defense.

Good to know! One other question, with gear and ranking up, should I hold off ranking up (given gear gets eaten up) so I've replacement or are the gains good enough it doesn't matter?

Early on, you should be ranking up as fast as possible since it's much easier to farm for the lower level equipment. But once you get into ranks 4-6, you should generally try to make it as far as you can with your current equipment before ranking up. Being at a certain rank with full equipment provides better stats than being one rank higher but with no equipment, and if you rank up before you're far enough in the story to be able to farm the equipment for the next rank, you could possibly hit a wall. So keep that in mind.

Rank 7 is a more complicated story, since that's when you unlock a character's EX skill that provides a massive stat buff if you have the mana to level that skill up. In some cases (especially the characters whose EX skill raises their attack power) that buff outweighs equipment buffs in overall benefit. If you have enough mana stored up to sufficiently level that EX skill (it can take a lot of mana once you're in the higher levels, I'm talking tens of thousands of mana for a single level) then go to rank 7. Otherwise, stay at rank 6 and fully equipped for as long as possible.

IIRC, they do end up adding even more ranks with later updates and future story chapters. For those, I'd follow the same "go as far as possible with the equipment you have before ranking up" logic as with ranks 4-6.

Nozomi is the best overall tank in the game right now. She's not as good against physical attackers as Miyako and not as good against magical attackers as Kuka, but she's pretty good at handling both of them. She'll help you out a lot in the story and in dungeons, and she's solid in PvP too.

I've already gone over why Yukari and Yui are great, so stick with them. I have no idea what Rei is like or how good she is, but I've been using Shinobu and she's pretty solid. She combos well with other physical attackers (especially Makoto) so you should pair her with those.

Who else do you have aside from the other three starter girls?

Mimi, Suzuna, and Tamaki are pretty good physical attackers, especially Tamaki in PvP as a dedicated anti-magic assassin. Chika is another useful healer and starts at a higher rarity than Yui, but Yui is better once you ascend her and they're both on the same rarity. Plus, you're eventually going to need more tanks for dungeons and Princess Arena, so Kuka and (after ascending her) Pecorine might be useful.

I agree, I don't plan on using her either. To make thing worse, her 6 star uncap reveals what she would look like if she were human and she's super cute, but it's only a troll and you can still only use her in llama form.

For the Llama girl, same lol I don't care how good she is. Luckily I already have 2 frontliners that are really strong, so I don't feel the need to absolutely use her.

Meanwhile I finally rolled the last of the 1* I didn't have, which was in the recommended, and lo and behold, she does have the set of skills I really needed for my team. Nozomi is taking all the damage by herself, so I really need a good healer. Both Nozomi and Akino, my frontliners, heal, though Akino's heal annoyingly misses Nozomi a lot of times. Sucks to not be using Kokkoro cuz she's definitely a stand out in the stories, but her kit is too odd for this team

Keep in mind that you'll need more than one team's worth of characters for dungeons and the Princess Arena. Plus if you ever need to use a 100% physical team to counter Tamaki's anti-magic targeting in the Battle Arena, then Kokkoro can be a very useful piece for that. I'd say keep her on the shelf for now, but start farming her memory shards so you have her at least at 2 stars for when you eventually do need her.

Having three front-liners isn't a problem as long as the front one is a tank. A select few of the front-line attackers (I think Kaori is the most notable one) get placed in front of some of the tanks in the formation, so that's the only time where it might be an issue.

And if that's true about Rei, then yeah, I'd say hold off on her for now.

I'm on chapter 4 right now and Miyuki dies pretty fast too. Yui just doesn't have fast enough heals to sustain her sometimes. Just gotta keep grinding those equips for stats to help tank longevity

Maho (and Shizuru) having auto-targeted heals is what makes them great at early-game, which is why the former is worth rerolling for, despite being easy to farm for.

Especially now that I realize that the next best healer, Misato, isn't even in the damn pool yet. Launch rerolling really is gimped.

Reminds me of when some JP publisher bought the rights to Epic 7 for JP release like a year and a half into release and confusingly released a modified launch version of the game even tho every other server just got the full version. The game by this point had a ton of updates to accommodate new players, which was why this decision was confusing. I posted about this once here but not in much detail, and the situation was still unfolding at the time. Sit back and listen if you have the time because it was hilarious watching this unfold for several months.

The problem with this occurred due to one of the release characters' special Dark version (ML form) called Arbiter Vildred, who was pretty mediocre on release but got a buff about half a year into the game that utterly broke him into oblivion. People were literally losing with formerly full meta teams to him and like 3 fodders that whales set to gloat and troll even high ranking experienced players with... Eventually they slightly nerfed him and simply released a bunch of characters that can counter him, which caused a ton of backlash and hatred from the community, resulting in a complete game abandonment by the entire Korean community lmfao. Global was for some reason way more forgiving, and the game survived losing nearly half its base.

Well the reason why this is significant is that the JP version confusingly kept all the changes to every character in the global version... and they kept with the same pace of update as global did since release, rather than an accelerated one. This resulted in a situation where if you haven't grinded for 2 hours for a single .25% chance at rolling Arbiter Vildred, you were essentially locked out of the highest rank in any competitive modes XD. It took ~2 hours per reroll because you had to beat the entire game on normal to unlock the special gacha to have any chance whatsoever at getting him, which was 10 levels with 8-10 stages, where near the end you needed a legitimate good team to win (or a friend with Arbiter Vildred lmao, which gave a huge advantage to Globals, who already had established communities, or people who were literally paying people with A.Vil to friend them every time they made an attempt). I dunno if that was just pure incompetence or some disgusting attempt at making people buy the galaxy bookmarks in mass quantities (these were extremely rare and very expensive irl currency as well...).

In any case, about a month later, they made the situation worse by releasing a modern and, in hindsight, an extremely op summer event exclusive unit, Seaside Bellona into the pool, thereby making another hurdle for everybody, even for people with Arbiter Vildred, where literally every team had to have those 2 or was a shit team. Just a fucking mess

Oh, and global people who just wanted to be weebs also raided the server and basically had a huge knowledge and foresight advantage, and the JP people complained because either there wasn't enough english speaking people to figure out the secret sauce easily accessible to globals or there wasn't anything left to figure out, with not enough tools to experiment and catch up to the global people who've already trial and error'd everything by that point.

Needless to say, the JP server quickly became a ghost town. Upon realizing the publishers killed their own game, they seem to have accelerated the updates massively to soon catch up to global and kept the game on life support with a very small portion of loyal players and a bunch of globals playing on the wrong server

I switched Yui for Shizuru for now and immediately got great results. A stronger single target heal is helping my Miyako live so much longer and the party wide physical shield is great help also.

Actually, I forgot, I got Summer Jun too. But Summer Jun was during a free roll period, so it was hard to not get her.

Summer Anna was the freebie for that event. Summer Nanaka was the best one meta-wise, but Summer Nanaka has glasses, so fuck that.

I'm still waiting for Summer Misaki. She has her lewd swimsuit already, Cygames should stop teasing us with not making her playable.

Until then, Summer Kokkoro is still best waifu. And free to boot.
