it's completely situational: if I'm in a rush and see it's open yeah absolutely

otherwise, nah - sometimes I just like saying hi and bye to someone I don't know, I'll wait in line and maybe even let people cut in front of me just to be outside in the world doing something for a longer period of time

C, usually self checkout is the only thing available when I shop. Cashiers always have a line.

The store I work at doubled the amount of self-checkouts they had last year. Great move on their part. There is pretty much always one open. Even when the store is at its busiest, it takes like a minute at most for one to become available.

The vast majority of the time I do, but I can't say exclusively. If I'm actually buying a cart full of stuff I may go to a cashier so that I don't have to try to juggle all of the items in the smaller space of the self checkout.

Before Covid , I didn't like using it. But if I go into place now I want to be as far away from people as possible

If I'm getting a lot of items, I go through a regular line. 1-10 items, definitely self check out.

I usually buy a full buggy or two, and self check out is a pain with lots of things at some places, especially if the bagging area is tiny, and even more so if you cant remove things until done. There is one place near here that has both a very tiny bagging area and no removal until you pay, and they have made me hate self checkout.

If it's stuff that's annoying to bag, I go for a cashier if one is easily available. If there are lines in all of them, then I go to the self-checkout. If it's stuff that's easy to bag, then straight to the self-checkout. If the ones with the belt were more common, I'd probably always use it regardless, but the ones with only the bagging area can be quite annoying if you have a decent amount of items.

Sometimes, accept at this one supermarket chain which has a stupid system. The barcode sensor is too sensitive, causing products to double-scan very easily. There is an 'undo' button, but for some reason pressing it always results in a 'this action cannot be undone' response.

Also, there's no option to print out a short check-out receipt. You have to print the whole thing.
So I'll stick with the real-life cashier in that supermarket.

i'm sure you do judge them, seeing that you're spending half a fucking hour waiting in the one open line and watching dozens of people check out their own shit and go before you. what else are you going to do waiting in that line?

I've been doing most of my grocery shopping all at once to avoid covid.

Deny. I rarely fall below the maximum item amount (I think it's 14 max) for the self checkout.

I prefer not to use Self Checkout. I have to watch a self checkout all day at work. I don't feel like using one also.

Im sick of the BS ass weight errors. Unexpected item found my ass. Develop a self checkout that works before you ask people to use them.
