I never wanted one before but my friend got an Amazon Fire tablet for Christmas and it's kinda neat and there are also some digital only books I'd like to read, and these things are pretty dirt cheap now.

I'd mostly use the thing just for couch and toilet surfing at home on my wifi, maybe a youtube video, and then maybe the odd book or two.

Should I go Amazon Fire? How is this thing different from like, other stuff like Android tablets? They can all browse the internet right, and can they do most things you can do on a phone or are you more restricted? I'm looking at one that says "Without Ads" and that's kinda concerning. Like, they make hardware with built in ads and you have to pay a premium to get one without ads? O_o

The one I'm looking at now is a 10 inch fire hd without ads, 1080p display, 32 GB for $165. Is that any good?
