In a way more has changed between now and 2002 but it's missing that sort of iconic vibe that the 80s had that helps it stick out more.

It makes me want a GTA set in the early 00s now that the era is clearly a whole different era than in 2021. I realize GTA3 was set then, but now we have a new perspective. It could be more of an over the top satire that looks at the Y2K era. This time it could also have iconic music of that era as well like Eminem, OutKast, Daft Punk, Linkin Park, System of a Down, The Strokes, Britney Spears, Daddy Yankee, Audioslave, etc... At the time GTA3 had a soundtrack that didn't really represent that era.
