Actually one of my favorite Korean sitcoms and not made by an all-Korean staff to boot. Legit hilarious and captures the old Korean sitcom humor perfectly but also mixes it up with modern North American humor.

Also love all the actors and actresses, the guy playing the dad being a relatable nerd living his dream and Simu Liu being a real stand up and funny guy irl too.

No, out of the main family, only Simu Liu is Chinese, but he has a very convincing Korean immigrant 2nd generation type of accent when he speaks brief Korean phrases

Absolutely adore Kim's Convenience but sometimes the younger actors pronunciations drive me crazy. Mostly Kim Chi when he says Ajeossi.

And it kind of lost me at the Season 4 finale with Janet and Gerald's romantic confusion. For four seasons they have been perfect platonic buddies. It feels like if Liz and Jack or Leslie and Ron kissed. Just feels wrong.

Still it's a phenomenal show with characters I love from top to bottom. Except Terrence. Fuck that character.

Still wish it would cross over like Schitt's Creek did.

That's actually how non-native Korean Americans around me spoke Korean lol. I can sorta see the Gerald complaint, though it was great when he confessed in Korean and Janet was the one who didn't understand lmao.

Yeah I view it from a perspective of an immigrant, and it's so well written and relatable to me, though I wasn't born in US. But I did have a lot of friends who were 2nd generation, and they all act like Jung, Janet, and Kimchi lol
