Axel Stone - Despite being the iconic "main duo" of SoR (along with Blaze), Axel is a surprisingly beginner-unfriendly character to use. Somewhat slow and with limited reach, Axel isn't helped by a pretty crappy forward special move (the neutral special is pretty great, though). Axel rewards nuance, though, and is kind of a monster if you know how to chain his combos correctly. He can kill bosses faster than any other character, and by a huge margin. 6/10
Blaze Fielding - Faster and easier to combo than Axel, Blaze is probably the most beginner-friendly. Her forward special is useful because it has knockback (similar to Adam's). Blaze's biggest strength is balance - she's just fast enough to escape stuff Axel can't, and just strong enough to wreck harder than Cherry. A good beginner character, but not as great as Adam or Cherry at higher difficulties. 8/10 Cherry Hunter - Cherry is basically Skate from SoR 2 and, more similarly, SoR3. Very fast, combo heavy and light on damage. She's the only main character that can run, and this is incredibly useful at higher difficulties. She's the best pick for defensive players who like to do chip damage while avoiding counter-attacks. She's kind of pointless in the lower difficulties because the enemies don't attack and counter often enough to warrant this level of speed. 8/10 Floyd Iraia - Superficially, Floyd is basically Max from SoR2 but there's a number of notable differences. Floyd is big and slow as you'd expect, but his actual fighting style is unique in that he's very throw-centric. Capable of grabbing and walking with enemies, he excels in crowd control in multiplayer because throwing enemies has a high knockback potential. The biggest problem with Floyd, as one would expect, is defense. He sucks at evading attacks, and this is a big issue on higher difficulties. The people who have mastered him can do amazing things, but it takes a lot of time and effort. 5/10 Adam Hunter - Adam is amazing. He's a short-range combo fighter with an emphasis on "juggling" enemies in the air, stunlocking them. But that alone isn't what makes him so great - he also has arguably the best special attacks in the game, with his forward knockback move being one of the best cancels in the entire game, knocking back an entire crowd of characters and temporarily granting invincibility in the process. Adam is pretty slow but has a forward lunge move that helps him escape attacks when needed. Adam is great for beginners and even better for experts. 9/10 --- Razer Blade 15 - Core i7-9750H, 32 GB RAM (2666), RTX 2080 MQ ... Copied to Clipboard!

I like Cherry because she has a dash that makes it way easier to keep the combo going

From what I've read, Blaze is almost universally agreed upon to be the best character in the game after the patch. Before that she was arguably top 3.

Dr. Zan and Shiva from SoR3 are also really good. Shiva is like a combination of Blaze and Axel
