I've been trying since September to get a 3080 to no avail. I'm on the EVGA queue, but I signed up a few days after launch which means I'm still likely months away. I did somehow get an email for a 3070 on the queue, and was surprised how quickly it got to me given the later release date. But I passed on it thinking the stock will normalize soon if that was the case. Definitely regretting that.
Next thing, tariffs hit and cards go up 10-25% in MSRP. The only cards I've seen on the twitter stock alerts lately are 3090 bundles, which with the price increases are basically $2000. Occasionally a 3070, which I don't want for an inflated price. Rarely see a 3080 go up and when they do, it's out of stock immediately even in seconds. --- PGY-2. Anesthesiology. ... It definitely sucks right now. Im waiting for the 3080Ti which supposedly has been delayed. Luckily I can wait it out for another year or 2 if needed but I want to make the leap sooner rather than later.

All tech manufacturing is fucked because of covid. Cards have it worse because of how insane crypto is right now, but it's still bad for everything. It's gonna be a year or more before you'll see a ps5 sitting on a shelf, for instance.

It seems AMD CPU's stock is slowly normalizing. But yeah, I agree with you, I think GPU stock will be a shit show for the next year at least. --- PGY-2. Anesthesiology. ... Copied to Clipboard!

not bragging. but I ordered a 2080 (whole computer) BEFORE the card game out from cyberpower. They apparently didnt have any 2080s and my order was already weeks behind, so they game me a 3080. I almost shit.

Im waiting for the 3080Ti I'm worried with the state of the market now that they won't feel pressured to release the Ti version for a while now. And even if the tariffs go away, I think the new prices are here to stay (since people are still paying them). I wouldn't be surprised if a 3080ti will MSRP at 1200 for FE, which means partner boards will retail for up to 1500, which is old 3090 prices. And since the 3080ti likely won't surpass the 3090, it seems like the early adopters of 3090's came out ahead if they managed to snag a card early. --- PGY-2. Anesthesiology. ... Copied to Clipboard!

I could go AMD as well or standard 3080. I have a 1080Ti which still does everything it needs to do but with the next gen systems coming out it will start to be left behind. I dont know what CPU to go for though. --- Trying is the first step towards failure, so just dont give it a shot and you cant dissapoint. ... Copied to Clipboard!

I could go AMD as well or standard 3080 I had a few opportunities to pull the trigger on a 6800xt or a 6900xt, but the lack of DLSS and good RT made me hesitant to go with it. Also I heard AMD tends to have buggy drivers for a while for their GPUs. If you're looking for a CPU upgrade, the 5600x is a solid bet if you have an AM4 motherboard. I updated to the beta bios with my x470 and it works with the new chips no issues so far. Only reason I went with a 5800x was because stock has been so difficult, I took the opportunity for a 5800x. The 5600x is a better value for sure. --- PGY-2. Anesthesiology. ... Copied to Clipboard!
