Even after beating the game, the bottom two items in the casino present section are still not unlocked. Anyone know what to do to get that? Just beat some of the optional modes that came after the game? Also I unlocked something called "Super Lucky Button" that costs 100k casino points and says it "May or may not pull in a powerful wave of luck". Does that have an effect on anything or is it just really expensive flavour text? Like maybe owning it gives bigger payouts in the slot machines or something.

Been trying for a couple of hours to get the trophy for S ranking the monolith casino game, just cause lol trophies and I don't think I can possibly do it. It's ridiculous.

Yeah, I did, though I'm generally not a video game music person, so I don't have detailed opinions on it. I liked the music in V3 a whole lot. Goodbye Despair was also great. THH was good, but definitely the one that sticks the least with me. They really did refine the "sound of Danganronpa" as the series went on.

Yep, Megumi Ogata sings the ending themes. She also voices Nagito. Ultra Despair Girls features Ogata's singing as well, while also featuring Komaru's VA.

So I tried out the bonus content for DR3 and I have some thoughts and questions.

I'm sad to see the resource gathering minigame gone from the "Island Mode" postgame. It wasn't good by any means, but I enjoyed having something to do other than just nothing but FTEs. Gave me a reason to care. For DR3 I'll probably get most if not all of them in the main game. However I did get Shuichi's FTEs with Amami and Kaede in Salmon Team since you can't get them in the main game. They were sweet. However, the skills they give confuse me. Kaede gives one that makes it easier to win the button mashing part of Debate Scrums. Which, uh... who has any issue with those? Like... at all? Amami has a skill that gives you increased influence like one that already exists, but it costs a ridiculous 16 skill points to equip? How the hell does that make sense? I think the max version of that skill only costs half of that.

Talent Development and Dungeon Crawling seems like it could be a fun time sink, but possibly also painfully long eventually. I'm very confused cause the first time I ran through it with Shuichi, on the exams it assigned me a Kaito and Kaede allies to fight with me. After running the dungeon a bit I got some new cards and drew an Asahina card, which I ran cause fuck yeah, Asahina. But when I got to the exam on that card I had no allies and was ridiculously crushed. What up with that?

How are you supposed to obtain the rarer, presumably more powerful character cards? Do you unlock them deeper in the dungeon?

Generally there seems to be a lot more post-game content to dig into with DR3 than the other two, which right now seems cool, but could probably end up being a bit much. I'll certainly have some more fun with it. I just really don't understand the lack of allies on my Asahina card.

Also, unrelated, but I was thinking about it. What exactly is tension in the Argument Armament? I know there's a tension guage and there's a skill that affects it, but I just don't know what it does. Never paid attention to it during my playthrough, and even google is failing at providing an explanation. Is it just that the tempo increases when you reach max tension?

I believe after every set number of floors, the probability of getting the rarer cards from the gacha increases. Its 0 initially but will eventually go up the further you get.

Why do game developers not automatically include a restart/quit button for minigames? That's where most of the pain came from, having to excavate the whole map every time I knew an attempt had failed.

Also, somehow I managed to hit lvl 99 with S rank Komaeda in Talent Development. All my other S ranks are around lvl 60, so even the 20 levels from the surgery shouldn't be enough.

Monolith Whatever is absolutely terrible. I spent an hour or two "figuring it out" on the day I completed the game, and then I've spent about 45 min to 1 hour each day since till I got it. And it's so luck based, it could easily have been a lot longer. Still, the more time you spend on it, the easier it does get to understand the patterns. The rest of the minigames are fairly easy. I think I had the trophies for salmon fishing and the slot machines before finishing the game and only needed the car one and the excavation one, and the car came fairly easy. I think I needed 30-45 minutes to full grasp and get a good run of it.

Yeah, I like getting trophies and I plan to get platinum for all the games. I've had two trophy bugs with V3 that makes me weary, though. There's a trophy for completing the prologue I didnt get and one for doing the love hotel for the first time that I didn't get either. So I'm keeping multiple saves in case I get fucked on something that can't be replicated without starting a new save.

V3's talent development and dungeon trophies seems very time consuming, though.

Have you read his FTEs yet? Even Makoto, as good-natured and forgiving as he is, is getting sick of Yasuhiro's shit by the end of his FTEs. Like, I'm pretty sure that's entirely unique to Yasuhiro as a character, getting the main character to be fed up with him that is.

I have not done any FTEs outside of the first playthrough in any of the games, aside from Shuichi's Kaede and Amami FTEs in V3, cause... you know.

I think I got one or two with Yasuhiro in that first playthrough. On a second one, I'mma max him out cause I wanna max out the characters I don't like first and be left with the good ones for when I finish playing the games.

I hear Leon's FTEs make him a douche, but I haven't seen any of them and I've found him sympathetic enough, albeit rather abrasive, which was kind of fair given his situation, in both DR1 and Ultra Despair Hagakure.

Leon's not so much a douche as he is lazy and shallow because DR1's FTEs weren't structured around giving everyone equal development. The extent of what you learn about him in DR1 is that he's trying to impress a girl and he's tsundere for baseball. Spoiler tagged for safety, but there really isn't much to his character because he was written out for meta reasons. Something to do with being one of the first character designs and used as a model for every other male and for testing purposes, so he got written out because everyone was sick of looking at him. Or something like that. I actually kinda liked his design tbh.

Leon is a douche, an asshole, a sleaze, a tool, a bully, and an egotistical prick. I was reminded how much I hate him in the Talent Development plan when I was running Tsumugi. He says something along the line of "Oh, that lame anime stuff. But its okay when girls are into it, just not guys."

Theres also that story in Despair Girls about him where he acts like a complete douche to that girl with shit taste.

And of course the fact that he kills Sayaka even after she gave up simply because she ticked off his pride.

...Not really? The girl was chasing after him for like 9 years and he kept saying no until finally he said, you do this near impossible thing and I'll pork your booty.

I'm not sure how he was the douche in the situation.

Also I still think that the Sayaka murder was pretty reasonable self-defense considering the situation they were in. In the real world, no, it wouldn't be, but in the real world there are police and legal systems to protect you. In the situation Leon was in, there was a literal killing game going on with all the participants trapped in close proximity to each other and no ability to punish Sayaka beyond pretending she isn't in the room or refusing to eat lunch at the same table as her. What they gonna do? Tie her up and and never let her loose for the rest of their lives, someone spoon feeding her at every meal? You can say logically thinking about it, Sayaka probably wouldn't try to kill someone again, and especially not Leon, for fear of obvious discovery, but that's rationalization after the fact. I really don't have any issue with him over it.

Nah, see thats not how I interpret Leon's actions at all. I see it more as "Foolish bird, I am the great Leon!!!" She crossed him and his fragile, overinflated ego and pride couldn't let her get away with that. Anyone without such an ego would have tried to deescalate the situation after she locked herself in the bathroom. He had plenty of time while he was retrieving the tools to rethink his actions but didn't. The right thing to do was to get help or discuss what to do with the others and have the group decide how to handle Sayaka from then on. But no, he's the great Leon. You die now!

I didn't initially dislike him when I first played DR1. But after UDG and DR3, it became more and more apparent how much of a garbage, unlikable character he is. Yasuhiro can at least be funny, but I can't think of anything Leon said that was memorable aside from Chucklefucks.

He deserves no sympathy and he got what he deserved.

Completed the Monokuma dungeon and the Magical Girl Monomi minigames. So all that's left now is the School Mode/Island Mode/Salmon Team games, but I will save those for the very last, as well as getting all 53 students through the Ultimate Talent Development plan. Other than that, my remaining trophies and FTEs I'll get through replaying the games a couple of times, which is fun. I'll probably do the Talent Development Plan sporadically, like take 3 characters through every time I start playing before I do other things. I could just do it as quick as possible (assuming you don't need to pass their exams, just get through year three and graduate), but I think I will at least do year 1 for each student on the friendship course and spam the friendship tiles to see all their events. I find them quite endearing.

I'll probably start with Ultra Despair Girls just to get it out of the way. I like it a lot, but I'd like to replay the main games in continuation. I've been listening to the English dub of V3 in a let's play and I don't think I'm gonna play that. Kaito sounds like he's 40 and Shuichi is almost emotionless in his dialogue delivery with no hint of the insecurity of his character. Also, I know it's the same voice actress and that V3 came first, but I just can't listen to Tsumugi without just hearing Mercedes from Three Houses. It's ridiculous. Other than that it isn't too bad, and some of the voices are really good, especially Iruma. I just don't feel an appeal to it over the Japanese. So DR2 is the only one I intend to play in English, because I have to experience Gundham, mostly. It's hilarious. The others I feel no need to associate with that dub.

I also consider DR1's English dub mandatory because of Celeste's obviously fake accent combined with her meltdowns in Chapter 3, it's really glorious.

Right! I'm loving it. Most of the new trial elements/changes are excellent, especially the Debate Scrums. Mind Mine is a bit whatever, but it's fine.
I feel like the OST is a bit weaker than the one in 2, but still great.
Loving the cast, as usual. Gonta, Maki and Kokichi ("It's a lie!" was just... holy shit. >_>) are probably my favorites at the moment. I really like Kaito as well, which is surprising since I usually dislike the idiots. Really wonder what his deal is gonna be since he's apparently dying...
Case 3 was probably one of the weakest in the series so far, didn't much care for it...

Can't judge the game too much yet though, since I'm just halfway. But yeah, loving it.

Let's just say I wasn't too pleased with how trial 4 ended up (not because it was bad, of course, though finally getting to the conclusion that the world looped was really predictable and took waaay too long), that was fucked up. Poor Gonta... But goddamn I can't blame him for doing it, the world is actually *completely* fucked up now unlike the first time, huh?
Getting all the DR1 flashbacks was super cool too. I was really wondering how this game was connected to the rest, and there we go! Pretty convenient that specifically 16 students ended up being immune to the space virus though lol.

About to start trial 5 now, I have basically 0 predictions for now, since pretty much everyone except Tsumugi went into the hangar?Though I assume both Kaito and Kokichi were killed, since neither of them are here, and Monokuma's just running of his AI...? Oh, and I assume Keebo might've been able to enter without the alarm sounding or anything like the Exisals since he's not recognized as human lol. Actually expected that to be the log-in error in case 4 and he'd be treated as "an object" but I was wrong like usual.
I'm usually way too smooth-brained to make plausible predictions though >_>

Case 4 is... I dunno. It feels emotionally right, but something about the process is just off. I like it, but it does make me scratch me head a bit. It has the tragedy angle like case 4 in DR1, but it feels much less complete in its thought pattern.

Case 5 is really good.

And yeah, Case 3 is just... the worst. Literally.

Agreed. Shinguji was one of my favourite characters just because their conversations were so information-intensive rather than mostly being about themselves like most coversation with the characters in the games. It was really neat.
