Good thing Mcdonalds Taco Bell Subway Jimmy Johns Hardees Little Ceazears Pizza Hut Dominos Walmart all setup curbside/created an app in the last 3 years just in time for Covid....at least they will still be around. I'm sure none of these megacorps mind family grocery is dead or mom and pop pizza places are gone

Yes in the years to come there will be no small mom and pop shops. Only big businesses. Its unfortunate but it happened.

Blame our citizens, the people who called it a hoax, the selfish, pathetic shit stains who wouldn't wear a mask, and still won't wear a mask, and let near half a million people die as a result. They did this. Here we are one year later and nothing has changed. Good luck everyone.

Compete and thrive. Some restaurants around here have failed, and they blame covid... while others are doing just fine because they've adapted with curbside/delivery and socially distanced dine-in. It's the nature of business.

A lot of businesses aren't allowed to. Once the phrase "lockdown" hits, there's nothing a small business can do to say they're safe for people to come in any capacity. Meanwhile we pack people into a Walmart for groceries and think anti-maskers are the only reason this spreads.

This. They need to hire a delivery driver or have one of their favorite employees who barely do anything deliver the food. Also create an app.

Small Businesses can survive if they wanted to.

this was unfortunately the real problem.

the Walmarts and Home Depots of the world were able to remain open throughout covid while mom and pops were forced to shut their doors.

I would agree but in the sense that the lockdowns didn't go far enough. Stores like Walmart and Home Depot needed to be shut down except for online, delivery, and curbside. Honestly, there's no reason anyone needs to be physically inside a store at this point.

i see people just rip their masks off in aisles at walmart after getting in or have it lowered where there is no point wearing it

very sad

If you're talking about new restaurants, the "compete and adapt" bylines don't really apply if your state doesn't even allow dine-in as an option. There's not a lot you can do as an untested product as a restaurant if all you can offer is takeout.

I don't think it's physically possible to delivery food to everyone in a country. Stores that sell food need to remain open. People not wearing masks should be kicked out and fined though.

Very good point. A lot of those businesses are taking loans or using their life savings to start. It's tragic.

Any restaurant that hasn't worked out a delivery infrastructure yet deserves to die.

The government closed these businesses down, not covid. A $15 min wage will further cement the corporate takeover and destruction of its competition. America is fucked and they did it to themselves.

I also mentioned curbside. And yes, this will cause delays but again, everyone needs to adapt. Appts would help.

This. No one to blame but dumbass Americans because they think a mask is infringing on their rights.

When you've a few people doing it, that's fine. But to do that for everyone in the country would require an insane number of staff to both pick it and deliver. I just don't see it being feasible as is.

The restaurants have at least adapted with delivery and carryout. The real casualty is essentially any retail that isnt corporate.

Once again this would happen regardless. Of course making it so small businesses are Allowed to under pay people isn't an answer ether. But businesses are far more important then people huh?

I mean the government also deserves a huge part of the blame, but it is really funny the anti mask crowd always claims to be wanting to save small business by opening everything up when it has exactly the opposite effect.
