Embarrassingly I'm 30 and just getting my license. At the same time, I need to drive halfway across the US in May.
This sounds stupid, and it is.
So I got myself a nice wheel and footpeddles for my PC, and I'd love to practice realistic first person cross country driving. I would like other cars on the roads, all first person gameplay, multi-monitor support (I have one huge middle screen and two smaller side screens), and as much realism as possible.

My first thought was Eurotruck Simulator, but I'd rather something in the US if possible.
Any ideas?

American Truck Simulator

I just found out that exists!
Apparently, there are car mods, but the physics don't change to line up.

I just saw that on Reddit, I think I'll end up getting that.
Thanks!

Yeah it's either drive or Greyhound. Neither of which sound appealing.
Thanks for the well wishes!

At least it won't be too bad weather wise by then, and mostly highway driving lol.

I just saw the topic title and didn't see that part. My advice to you op is make sure you take bottled water and a blanket, don't let your gas tank go below halfway (especially in the western half of the country), get an oil change and inspection and service before you start driving, and if you start to feel tired stop for a while - see some sights, walk around, if you're still tired just get a hotel for the night.

Done cross country twice and it is beautiful. I did wind up driving 30 hours straight, stopped for a hotel and when I got up the next day my eyes were mad dry and tired so I don't recommend that lol

That's great advice!
I'm considering renting a small RV. It'll just be me, but I figure the ability to pull over and nap at any time would be a good idea. Hotel/motel during COVID sounds risky, ya know?

Speaking of which, any tips for where to stop for the night with an RV?

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

Yeah that sounds horrible.
For this trip the Greyhound would be 3 days, only 5 30 minute stops, and I'd likely be surrounded by people who I have no idea if they'd have COVID or not.
So I already have the ticket there, but man I'm hoping to drive. I would sooo much rather drive.
