Dating since August. Knew her four years before that. I am sad. And all my irl friends have moved away so I have nothing to distract me from it. I hate being this low. Itll be a while til I feel somewhat normal again.

^ This. It might not sound like the best bit of advice but its true. It will get better, and someone else will come along and you'll fall in love all over again. It takes time, but since it was a really short relationship it shouldn't take long. You'll go through the motions of feeling hurt and lonely, but it does pass. Try to distract your mind with things you enjoy and reconnect with friends, or try to make new ones. Also, don't be afraid to let it all out, while dwelling on it doesn't help, bottling it up makes this stuff worse too.

I'm assuming from what you've said that she was a friend for some years before hand and that might be why a short relationship breaking has come as a hit. If this is the case then that does suck because its a friendship either lost or seriously damaged.

I think, before dating friends you both really need to be sure that you're really into the idea of being a couple and are going to give it a good shot. I've been there once with a friend who crossed boundaries and didn't progress and it fucked the friendship over for a really long time but we became friends again. Also my current relationship was a friendship that evolved but we did the smart thing and made sure this was something we would both work at because the friendship was important to us. If you ever date someone you already have a friendship with again, make sure you discuss what it means to that friendship if it falls apart and that you're both sure and will actually put the effort in for the friendships sakes.

Not talking to anyone. Yeah, I was dating a girl for around four years off and on and we were engaged til June.

I dont exactly plan relationships. If Im single for a while, and since Im out of college and would have to go out of my way to play the field, then so be it.

How on earth do you just walk around knowing this is the way you think, and it never crosses your mind that you need counseling?

Didnt you just get out of a long term relationship/engagement before? Maybe it was a bit too soon to jump into something else. You might have been vulnerable and missed some red flags.

Most relationships dont last past a few months too. It sucks. But try not to dwell. Try and take some time to better yourself and be in a better state of mind. Youre only 23 and youre a good looking guy. Take a break from dating and give yourself some more self care.

Forgot about this. Of course it crosses my mind but I can not afford it and the pandemic doesnt help either.
