Usually when they're forced, the person forcing them is nearby so... really you'd be spitting in the forcer's face by doing that.

I just say something along the lines of ok or thanks, something simple that isn't accepting of the apology but also not escalating the situation

A long-time bully ambushed and shoved me to the floor, then when he was laughing to his buds, I got back on my feet, punched him in the face, and threw him into the lockers, and was about to pound him again when a teacher intervened.

Even though what I did probably went beyond the bounds of it, the principle decided to call it self defense and let me off w/o punishment. But she had the bully apologize and shake my hand.
I really didn't want to accept his apology and especially loathed shaking that bastard's hand....
But the deal I got was pretty good (I've heard of others in school getting punished even for self defense), so I just went along w/ it. *sigh*

Some kids threw some eggs at me from their Jeep one night when I was about fifteen. I called the cops, the cops found them, made the kids follow them in their Jeep to near my place and apologise to my face. Not sure what happened after that, but I was told they took their parents Jeep without asking, so Im assuming, because it was back then, they got beat pretty badly. Plus the charges. But believing they got belted makes me feel better about it. Basically the only time calling them has done me a favour.
