Machinist>Ninja=>Samurai (Though Ninja is more fun during the leveling process, and Samurai doesn't feel decent until lvl 62, then finally gets good at 70, then gets ridiculous at 80)>Red Mage>Scholar

I'd put Scholar higher if you could mind control teammates.

I've only done black mage. Kind of wish I'd tried something else now that I'm at level 60. Is it common for people to do another class when they hit 80?

I'm thinking ninja or machinist if I do try a second job.

Yeah. I started as Lancer->Dragoon and played it even after hitting 80 for like another 2 months without switching to anything else. Then finally leveled Dark Knight and Dancer. Then other classes, and basically haven't touched Dragoon since 5.1...And probably wont ever again lol

I havent played for a bit but i always msq'd as dps and did dailies as tank/healer

What do you mean by dailies? >.> not sure what in the game constitutes a daily.

One of XIV's biggest draws to me is that I can level up multiple jobs on the same character, so I assumed that its sorta expected to level something else after hitting 80. Plus I don't want to waste any sweet experience from quests/msq.

Scholar. You already have one DPS job to level 80 so at least get another role to 80.

The roulettes in the duty finder all have a bonus for the first time you do them in a day

You can switch right now and drop black mage if you aren't enjoying it.
