Should Election day be a National Holiday




In my opinion I'd say yes because it would give people more time to vote as opposed to going to work then rushing to the polls to cast your vote as some people have to day.

It would also serve as a crucial reminder to voters that an election day is coming up.

And who knows maybe election day over time would become a celebration that Americans could look forward to and be proud to take part in.

Sure, though plenty still are forced to work on federal holidays. But it's better than nothing. Mandatory early voting rules that states are all required to adhere to at a minimum (free to do more if they want) would be better.

Did somebody say election day brunch followed by a movie at the theater?

This will let schools out, that's about it. The average American still has to work. The best solution is to not limit voting to a single day, it's a stupid system.

Considering that making it a national holiday will have little to no impact on the workers least able to get to the polls, it would make sense to do literally anything else than back this brainless buzzwordy policy.

I like the idea, though I would prefer a push towards more accessible means of voting instead of allotting more time for it.. I mailed my ballot this year and appreciated the convenience.
