San Francisco Unified School District has been criticized for voting 6-1 last month to change the name of 1/3 of the city's schools Parents and residents were outraged that historians were not consulted by the renaming as they allegedly used references from Wikipedia and other non-scholarly sources to determine which personalities were racist and problematic Several of those have been proven factually incorrect including a false claim that American Poet, Russell Lowell did not want black people ot vote and Paul Revere's military activities were tie to the conquest of the Penobscot Indians Gabriela defended it however in a tense interview that she doesn't want to discredit the work that their group has done despite the use of inaccurate information and said "No, because i've already shared with you that the people who have contributed to this process are also part of a community that is taking it as seriously as we would want them to. And they are contributing through diverse perspectives and experiencse that are often not included and we need to acknowledge" Shes being described a WOKE after stating she did NOT admire Abraham Lincoln and said "I think that the killing of indigenous peoples and that record is something that is not acknowledged. It's something that people are now learning about and due to this process. And so, we just have to do the work of that extra learning when we're having discussion" She also said the renaming was only facing criticism because pepole will always have a prblem with the discussion of racism not because of inaccurate information..
