Where in history have they raised minimum wage by over 2X?
That's not happening this time either.

I know when my buddy worked for a corner store that when the pay rate went up, his pay didn't go up. For context this was quite a few years ago when the pay cap for that type of job was 10 dollars an hour. they raised the minimum wage to 10/h and they refused to increase his pay to match the pay going up. The next day he walked into his bosses office, gave her the middle finger told her to go F herself and walked out during his shift. That same day he was hired by A&W as a fry cook, so he didn't lose a day pay.

That same boss btw hired on someone else I knew, had him work a single shift, told him he was doing a fantastic job, and proceeded to call him when he was walking home after his shift and fired him on the spot. Meanwhile he was told that he was doing the work of 3 regular workers.

Before you make a shift in any hourly position, make sure wherever you are going can still offer you the same amount of hours.

No sense in moving from a $15/hr job where you're guaranteed 40 every week to a place that now also pays $15, but only offers half the hours because they have to cover everyone and can barely keep up.

hmm fair point

After 11 years I was to train a man who's starting wage would be higher than mine after 11 yearsl

.

yeah I recently had to train a new hire who made $17. That sucked.

he got hired for a mobile position, which does tend to pay more, but time and grade should count for something.

and minimum wage gets bumped to $15....

will I still make $15 or likely get a small bump, to not be making minimum
You want the truth?

It's entirely up to your employer.
You make approximately 166% above minimum wage now. Its highly unlikely your wage will jump 166% (approximately 24.9 an hour) after your state jumps to 15.

Just like someone making 24.9 now wouldn't jump to 41.33 (166% increase).

TLDR: It's highly likely your wage will jump somewhere between 0% and 166%.

This is a necessary. But it will NOT scale to you above minimum wage.
