I would assume at that point impurities from the container would have contaminated it. I suppose you could boil it though

So it would only be bad because of the container? If the water was stored in material that doesnt decompose it would be fine?

If it was distilled then properly sealed and stored it could probably last for hundreds of years. In general, though, still water will stagnant due to microbes.

There isn't anything you could put it in that wouldn't decompose at a microscopic level to some degree.

3-5 years ago, I filled a 3ltr soda bottle with water. Just got rid of it a week ago. Thing was nasty.

I mean, that's just not true. Silver or gold are extremely unreactive, non-toxic, and could absolutely theoretically store water for thousands of year without contaminating the water. There's other, more complex materials that could do similar.

It does though ice generates more water when it melts than the amount of water used to make the ice....dont get me wrong though most water is recycled but its not a static amount of water

...also nuclear powerplants are just steam turbines on steroids.

Halogens are in most sources of water and they affect gold and silver.
