So Im apartment hunting for the first time and I make about $45,000 at my current job, though I may be looking at a $42-$44k job next (better environment).

Basically I make about $1450 a paycheck currently and Im looking at apartments in the area and theyre all asking for about $1260, $1295ish a month. And thats not including utilities typically. I have some semblance of what that leaves me with but its not much, let alone to save with

I could look at cheaper housing at the cost of my general safety and longer commutes, but my overall question is how much do you save typically per paycheck? Right now Im staying with my parents and Ive been saving about $2000 a month but obviously thatll change the instant I move somewhere soon

Where you live is too expensive for what you make to save anything realistically. Stay at your parents until you can find work outside of that city or a better paying job altogether.
